The Kucinich campaign began airing a new television ad in Iowa and New Hampshire today focused on Kucinich's plan to bring US troops home from Iraq and put in UN peacekeepers. This new 30-second ad is being rotated into time slots already purchased. The campaign is running two hundred and ninety-three spots each week for the week of January 5 and the week of January 12, increasing to 338 for the week of January 19. On broadcast, the commercials are airing in Iowa on WHO-TV NBC (DES MOINES), KCCI-TV CBS (DES MOINES), WOI-TV ABC (DES MOINES), KGAN-TV CBS (CEDAR RAPIDS), KCRG-TV ABC (CEDAR RAPIDS), KFXA-TV FOX (CEDAR RAPIDS), and in New Hampshire on WFXT-TV FOX (BOSTON, Mass.), WMUR-TV ABC (MANCHESTER). On cable, the ads are running on NEW ENGLAND CABLE NEWS (NECN), and in Iowa on CNN, MTV, A&E, FXNC, and USA.
The new TV ad will soon be viewable, along with the four already there, on the Kucinich website.
New print ads will run in the coming days in Iowa and New Hampshire on the topic of Iraq and on Congressman Kucinich's positions on international trade. Publications that will run the ads include the Des Moines Register, the Concord Monitor, the Manchester Union Leader, and the Salmon Press Newspapers in New Hampshire.
Kucinichs advertising campaign has been developed by George Lois, who is widely regarded as one of the most creative and successful advertising communicators of our time. Lois created the winning ad campaigns for Senators Jacob Javits, Robert Kennedy, Hugh Scott, and Warren Magnuson, and ran the "celebrity" ad campaign that helped free Rubin "Hurricane" Carter.
