"Jim Gilmore successfully campaigned for governor of Virginia on a platform to reduce taxes and improve education in his state. I share his commitment to those issues, and applaud his more recent efforts to support local emergency responders across America . As a fellow former Republican governor and state executive leader, I share his views on many issues, particularly on the need to win the War on Terror and create a stronger national defense. Raising money is indeed a challenge. I respect his decision to leave the race and welcome his support."
