Clinton Vows To Work Toward Energy Independence In New Ad Airing In Iowa, New Hampshire

Clinton Vows To Work Toward Energy Independence In New Ad Airing In Iowa, New Hampshire

After a week spent highlighting Hillary’s plan to address America’s energy and environmental challenges, the Clinton campaign today launched new ads in Iowa and New Hampshire emphasizing Hillary’s commitment to lead our country toward energy independence.

The new 30-second spots, entitled, “Energy Independence,” feature Hillary discussing her plans to end our dependence on foreign oil, create millions of jobs by investing in alternative energy, and end tax subsidies for oil companies.

Hillary unveiled her energy plan in appearances across Iowa and New Hampshire this week, outlining her goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% from 1990 levels to avoid the worst effects of global warming, cut foreign oil imports by two-thirds from 2030 projected levels, and catalyze a thriving clean energy industry.

Hillary would transform our economy from carbon-based to green and energy efficient, jumpstarting research and development by investing $15 billion annually in basic energy research and development, and deployment of clean energy technology.  She would also spur the green building industry by funding the retrofitting and modernization of 20 million low-income homes and taking concrete steps to reduce electricity consumption, including enacting strict appliance efficiency standards and phasing out incandescent light bulbs.

Read more about Hillary’s plan to power America’s future here.

Following is the script for the Iowa ad:

“Energy Independence”

CLINTON: We could create millions of new jobs if we got serious about dealing with energy efficiency, new forms of energy.  That’s what I will do.

CLINTON: I will create a Strategic Energy Fund that will put $50 billion to work with wind and solar and biofuels.  And help us move away from our dependence on foreign oil.

CLINTON: And where would I get the money?

CLINTON: I would take the tax subsidies away from the oil companies.

CLINTON: Let’s do it together.

ANNCR: If you’re ready for change, she’s ready to lead.

CLINTON:  I’m Hillary Clinton and I approved this message.

Following is the script for the New Hampshire ad:

“Energy Independence”

CLINTON: We’ve got to get serious about ending our dependence on foreign oil.

CLINTON: We could create millions of new jobs through new energy.

CLINTON: Let’s start investing in what I’ve called a Strategic Energy Fund that will put $50 billion dollars to work with wind and solar and bio fuels

CLINTON: And where would I get the money?

CLINTON: I would take away the tax subsidies from the oil companies.

CLINTON: They don’t need your tax dollars any more.

ANNCR:  If you’re ready for change, she’s ready to lead.

CLINTON:  I’m Hillary Clinton and I approved this message.

American Federation Of State, County And Municipal Employees Endorses Clinton

American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Endorses Clinton

The Clinton Campaign today announced the endorsement of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). AFSCME is the nation’s largest public sector union, representing more than 1.4 million workers.

“As our President, Hillary Clinton will help rebuild America’s middle class and make sure that everyone shares in our country’s prosperity. She has a record of leadership, of bringing people together for more than 30 years. Hillary Clinton inspires our members. She sparks the flame we need to win,” said AFSCME President Gerald W. McEntee.

McEntee said after 10 months of polling and interviewing members and scrutinizing candidates’ records, Clinton stood out from the pack.

“We had the most talented and diverse field of Presidential candidates we’ve seen in years.  But when all was said and done, among our members Hillary Clinton clearly emerged as the best candidate to take back the White House for America’s working families,” he said

AFSCME said it would activate a 40,000-member volunteer army to mobilize its members, and launch an unprecedented GOTV effort in Iowa, where it represents 30,000 workers.

“I am honored to receive the support of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees,” Clinton said. “In my administration, America’s working families will again have a partner in the White House.”

Clinton has been endorsed by other leading national unions, including the American Federation of Teachers, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, National Association of Letter Carriers, International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and the United Transportation Union.

Clinton Vows To Rebuild Middle Class In New Ad Airing In Iowa, New Hampshire

Clinton Vows To Rebuild Middle Class In New Ad Airing In Iowa, New Hampshire

The Clinton Campaign launched a new television ad in Iowa and New Hampshire today, underscoring Hillary’s commitment to strengthen the middle class and chart a new course in Iraq, on health care and on the economy.

The new 30-second spot, entitled “Trapdoor,” features Hillary at a townhall discussing the anxieties facing middle class families, many of whom are only a pink slip or a medical emergency away from falling through the trapdoor of the Bush economy.

The latest IRS data reveals an American economy that is leaving more and more middle class families behind. Widening income inequality has reached levels not seen since 1929, and typical taxpayers have found their real income drop 2 percent between 2000 and 2005.

The new ad airs a week after Hillary’s “Rebuilding the Road to the Middle Class Tour” across Iowa and New Hampshire, during which she outlined her economic blueprint for the 21st Century to create high-paying jobs, restore fairness to our tax code, and renew the basic American bargain that anyone who works hard and follows the rules can get ahead.

Hillary detailed proposals to offer retirement savings plans for every American and unlock the doors to higher learning by providing generous tax credits to help all young people afford a college education. Read more about Hillary’s middle class agenda here.

Following is the script for the ad:

“Trapdoor”

TV :30

CLINTON:  We have to change course on the economy, just as we have to change course in Iraq and on healthcare.

CLINTON:  The Bush economy is like a trapdoor.   Too many families are one pink slip, one missed mortgage payment, one medical diagnosis away from falling through and losing everything.

ANNCR:  If you're ready for change…she's ready to lead.

CLINTON:  We’ve got to build a strong and prosperous middle class to have a strong and prosperous America again.

CLINTON:  I’m Hillary Clinton and I approved this message.
