Joe Biden Announces Online Nation Plan

BIDEN ANNOUNCES ONLINE NATION PLAN
ENSURES A 21ST CENTURY EDUCATION FOR ALL AMERICANS

Marshalltown, IA (November 5, 2007):   Today at the Iowa Valley Continuing Education Conference Center in Marshalltown, Iowa, Sen. Joe Biden discussed the need to guarantee a 21st century education for all Americans and announced his Online Nation plan to provide nationwide access to high-speed internet. Although the United States led the world into the Internet age, the U.S. has now slipped to 16th in the world in high-speed Internet connections. Millions of Americans – particularly in rural and low-income urban areas – do not have access to high-speed Internet connections. In fact, less than 5 percent of towns of 10,000 or less have access to high-speed Internet connections and just 12 percent of Internet users in rural areas have them.

“There is a digital divide between communities with access to high-speed Internet connections and those without this critical technology,” said Sen. Biden. “Access to high-speed Internet connections can open a world of opportunities and even save lives through tele-medicine and instant access to electronic medical records.  That’s why today I am announcing my Online Nation plan: to ensure every community, every school and college and every business has a high-speed Internet connection. As President, education and technology will be my top priority.”

FMR. VICE PRESIDENT WALTER F. MONDALE ENDORSES CLINTON

Fmr. Vice President Walter F. Mondale Endorses Clinton

The Clinton Campaign today announced the endorsement of former Vice President Walter F. Mondale.

"America is ready for change, and Hillary Clinton has the strength and experience to deliver it," Mondale said. "Hillary is uniquely qualified to rebuild America's standing in the world and lead this nation from her first day in the White House."

Mondale served as Vice President from 1977 to 1981 under President Jimmy Carter, and was the Democratic nominee for President in 1984.

His career in public service began in 1960 when he was appointed Attorney General of Minnesota, later rising to become a two-term U.S. Senator. From 1986 to 1993, Mondale was chairman of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, then served as U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 1993 to 1996.

Mondale is currently Senior Counsel at the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney in Minneapolis, MN.

"Throughout his distinguished career in public service, Walter has been a champion for working families and equality for all Americans," Clinton said. "I am deeply honored to have his support and delighted that he'll join our effort to change America."

Bobby Shriver Endorses Chris Dodd For President

BOBBY SHRIVER ENDORSES CHRIS DODD FOR PRESIDENT
Cites Dodd's commitment to public service and record of results

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Chris Dodd's Presidential Campaign announced that Bobby Shriver, founder and Chairman of DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa) and (PRODUCT) RED and son of Sargent Shriver, the first Director of the Peace Corps, and Eunice Mary Kennedy Shriver, who founded the Special Olympics, has endorsed Sen. Dodd for President.

"For the 25 years I've known him, Chris Dodd has always demonstrated the same ability to lead and inspire that we've seen in our greatest Presidents.  His commitment to service, particularly his years in the Peace Corps, and record of results would make him a serious candidate in any election," said Shriver. "From writing the Family and Medical Leave Act, to ensuring the United States' participation in the World Bank's Heavily-Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) debt forgiveness initiative, to his tireless efforts to combat child poverty and hunger and secure funds for the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Chris has a special talent for bringing people together on a bipartisan basis to tackle enormous challenges.  That makes him the candidate we need at this difficult moment."

"I'm deeply honored.  Bobby has been a true champion, creating social change and improving world health," said Sen. Dodd. "This is someone for whom service is literally in his blood, with his family's long history of having helped create the Peace Corps, the Special Olympics and so many other efforts that have created opportunity here at home and around the world.  I hope to build on that great tradition of service to create a more prosperous and just country for all Americans."

In 2004, Bobby Shriver was elected to the Santa Monica, California, city council with the biggest margin in 120 years.  He joins his cousins, Congressman Patrick Kennedy and Ted Kennedy, Jr, in endorsing Sen. Dodd's candidacy.

Romney For President Launches New Television Ad, "Experience Matters"

Romney For President Launches New Television Ad, "Experience Matters"

Boston, MA – Today, Romney for President launched its newest television ad, "Experience Matters." The ad highlights Governor Romney's belief that our nation's leader must have the experience "to run the largest enterprise in the world." Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) does not have that experience and our nation cannot afford a leader who needs on-the-job training. Governor Romney has led businesses, the 2002 Winter Olympics and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In each case, he brought change and turned around institutions. As President, he will do the same for our government.

The ad will begin airing as part of the campaign's rotation today in New Hampshire. Script and viewing links are below.

Script For "Experience Matters" (TV:30):

GOVERNOR MITT ROMNEY: "Hillary Clinton wants to run the largest enterprise in the world. She hasn't run a corner store. She hasn't run a state. She hasn't run a city.

"She has never run anything. And the idea that she could learn to be President as an internship just doesn't make any sense.

"I have spent my life running things. I've learned how to run a business. I've learned how to run a state. I ran the Olympics. In each case, I've brought change.

"And if there's ever been a time we needed change in Washington to bring strength to America, it's now.

"I'm Mitt Romney and I approve this message."
