Giuliani Campaign Announces Illinois Campaign Staff

New York City –The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Committee announced today Kevin Artl will serve as Executive Director of Mayor Giuliani’s Illinois campaign. Joining Artl is Jayme Siemer, the campaign’s state Political Director.  Together, they will run the day-to-day campaign operation statewide by building upon the Mayor’s strong fundraising and increasing support at the grassroots level.

The campaign also announced Andrew Proctor and Nick McNeely as field staff in Illinois. They will generate local grassroots support and manage volunteers in the state.

Giuliani’s Illinois Campaign Chairman Representative Tom Cross, the Illinois General Assembly’s House Republican Leader, said this team will help spread Rudy’ optimistic leadership throughout the state. “Mayor Giuliani is the Republican presidential candidate who can win Illinois in the primary and general elections.  We fully intend to run a strong campaign in the state,” said Cross. “And Rudy’s experienced staff, led by Kevin and Jayme, will help solidify the Mayor’s support among Republican voters.”

In addition to Representative Cross, Ron Gidwitz, a local business leader, is the campaign’s statewide Co-Chairman.

Santa Fe, NM -- New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and First Lady Barbara Richardson today released the following statement mourning the loss of Lady Bird Johnson. The former First Lady of the United States passed away today at the age of 94.

"It was with sadness that we heard about the passing of Lady Bird Johnson. She was an extraordinary First Lady -- gracious, strong, and, above all, dedicated to the betterment of our society. Her early, public commitment to the environment was an inspiration to the entire nation. Mrs. Johnson's successful efforts to beautify Washington, DC, and her home state of Texas will keep her memory alive, especially when the wildflowers are blooming."

Brownback Mourns Lady Bird Johnson

BROWNBACK MOURNS LADY BIRD JOHNSON
Commended her efforts to heal and beautify the nation

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Sam Brownback mourned the loss of Lady Bird Johnson, who passed due to natural causes in her Austin, Texas home today.  Johnson was the widow of President Lyndon Baines Johnson.

“Lady Bird Johnson will be missed and she and her family are in my prayers,” Brownback stated.  “She was known for her grace and sincerity as well as ushering in an era of natural beautification and bringing environmentalism to the public conscience.  She also helped heal a nation after the loss of President Kennedy, torn by war and civil strife.  She was an outstanding First Lady and a great American.”

Lady Bird Johnson is survived by her two daughters, Lynda and Luci.

Dodd Announces Nevada Campaign Chair

DODD ANNOUNCES NEVADA CAMPAIGN CHAIR

NEVADA -- The Dodd for President Campaign today announced the endorsement of Nevada State Senator John Lee. Lee will serve as the Statewide Chair of Senator Dodd's campaign in Nevada.

"Chris Dodd's lifetime of selfless service to this country leaves no doubt in my mind that he is the right person to lead our party and our country," said Lee. "As the author of the Family and Medical Leave Act, as well as the FIRE and SAFER acts, Chris Dodd's leadership has improved the lives of thousands of Nevadans, and millions of Americans."

Boston, MA – Today, Governor Mitt Romney announced that former Congressman Bob Beauprez (R-CO) has endorsed his candidacy for President of the United States.  Congressman Beauprez will advise the campaign and help communicate Governor Romney's message of conservative change in Washington.  He will travel to Iowa tomorrow to campaign for Governor Romney.

Mike Huckabee Launches New Updated Campaign Website

Little Rock, AR – Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (AR) announced the launch of his new campaign website:  www.mikehuckabee.com.  The new site is visually appealing, easy to navigate and will be updated several times a day.
 
“The internet is a vital tool to get my conservative message to as many people as possible,” Gov. Huckabee said.  “Having a website that is easy to find and navigate will ensure that our latest campaign news and information is just a click away.”

The new home page includes the title “Authentic Conservative.  Proven Leader” and features current photos of Huckabee on the campaign trail.  It also includes updates on the campaign’s strong efforts in Iowa, with a variety of information on ways volunteers can help out in the Hawkeye State.

The website is broken into six sections.  The “About Mike” section provides biographical information on Huckabee and his wife, Janet.  There is also a photo gallery, including various photos of the governor meeting with people across the country.  The “Newsroom” section contains press releases, published articles, and archived information – as well as video and audio clips from various news stories and conference calls.  The “Issues” section outlines the former governor’s position on a range of issues, including national security, education, health care, and immigration.  The “Blog” section is constantly updated with blog reports and contains an impressive blog-roll of “Bloggers for Huckabee.”

“Bloggers are a key component in distributing valuable political news of the day,” Gov. Huckabee said.  “Voters are looking for unfiltered information about the issues and candidates, and bloggers provide that.”

One popular aspect is the “Why I Like Mike” video clips, featuring Huckabee connecting with supporters from across the country, with people of all ages.

The last two sections, “Get Involved” and “Contribution” sections provide information for people to join the Huckabee campaign by volunteering, contributing, and spreading the Huckabee message.  There is also a Huckabee Newsletter sign-up feature and listing of upcoming events.
