Elizabeth Edwards

Elizabeth and I are so grateful for your prayers and wishes. Your support means a great deal to us during this difficult time.

As you may have heard, yesterday we found out that Elizabeth's breast cancer is back, but confined mainly to her bones. Although this isn't the news we wanted to hear, we are very optimistic. Having been through many struggles together in the past, we know that the key is to keep your head up, keep moving and be strong. And that's exactly what we intend to do.

Elizabeth and I have been married for nearly 30 years and we will be in this every step of the way together. We will keep a positive attitude and always look for the silver lining—that's what we do.

Although the cancer is no longer curable, it is treatable, and many patients in similar circumstances have lived full, energetic lives. We expect nothing less for Elizabeth. She expects to do all the things next week that she did last week.

Our campaign goes on and it goes on strongly. We are so proud of the campaign we are running—a campaign based on ideas and reaching out to people. This campaign is not about me or Elizabeth—it's about all the people we have met these past few years and people like them all across America and the world—people worried about feeding and clothing their kids; people without health care; people facing hardships overseas.

Both of us are committed to this campaign. We're committed to this cause and we're committed to changing this country we love so much.

Thank you again for your support and for standing with us.

Clinton Names Bob J. Nash Deputy Campaign Manager

Clinton Names Bob J. Nash Deputy Campaign Manager

Long-time Clinton Advisor and Community Banker to Organize Broad-Based Support for Clinton Campaign

The Clinton Campaign announced today that Bob J. Nash, long-time Clinton advisor and community banker, will join Hillary’s campaign as Deputy Campaign Manager.

“I am honored that Bob is joining my campaign,” Clinton said. “Bob and I have worked together for 25 years, and he shares my vision for renewing America’s promise.”

“I have worked with Hillary Clinton for over 25 years. She is smart and has the biggest heart of anyone I know,” Nash said. “She has what it takes to lead this country and represent all Americans, and I am excited to be a part of her team.”

A native of Texarkana, Arkansas, Nash worked on Bill Clinton’s gubernatorial and presidential campaigns and Hillary’s Senate contests, focusing on reaching out to racial, ethnic and minority groups.

Then-Governor Clinton appointed Nash as President of the Arkansas State Development Finance Authority, where he managed a multi-billion dollar public sector finance institution to support Arkansas’ housing, small business and public facilities.

Nash will resign his position at ShoreBank and move to Washington, DC, to join the Clinton campaign in April.

Former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich Endorses Giuliani

Former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich Endorses Giuliani

New York City – Former Governor Bob Ehrlich, the first Republican elected as Governor of Maryland since 1966, announced today his support for Mayor Rudy Giuliani to be the next President of the United States.  Similar to Mayor Giuliani, Ehrlich inherited an enormous budget deficit and used fiscal discipline to turn around Maryland’s economy despite an overwhelming Democratic state legislature.  Ehrlich will serve the Committee as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Chairman.

Governor Bob Ehrlich praised Giuliani’s experience, leadership and record of results.  "In the post-September 11th world, we need a competent, tough, and principled president.  Rudy Giuliani is the right man for the job," said Governor Ehrlich.  "As Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani cut taxes, took on crime and government waste, and gave strength to an entire nation after the September 11th attacks.  America needs a leader like Rudy Giuliani as president and I am proud to support his candidacy.”

“I am honored to have the support of Governor Ehrlich,” said Mayor Giuliani.  “As Governor, Bob Ehrlich was never afraid to take on difficult challenges and find the right solutions for his constituents.”

"A Time For Leadership" Rudy Giuliani 2008 Website Welcome Transcript

When I was Mayor, there was a sign on my desk. It read, “I'm responsible.” That's the common sense accountability we need today. That's the kind of leadership we need today. That’s the kind of leadership we need in Washington and that's why I'm running for President.

Since leaving City Hall I've traveled to many states across our nation, meeting thousands of you along the way.  You've shared with me your hopes and concerns about the future.  And it's clear to me that what unites us as Americans is far greater than what divides us.  I'm optimistic as I look to the future, because I believe that Americans will always rise to the challenge we face.

This is a time for leadership, terrorists are at war with us around the world.  At home we face the generational challenges of making our country energy independent, fiscally disciplined, and building an education system to compete and win in the 21st century.

We need strong leadership that is not afraid to tackle tough problems head on. From Iraq to immigration to entitlement reform, people in Washington today can't seem to get anything done. Americans don't feel that their government is working as well as it should.  If we're going to win this war and solve the serious challenges we face as a nation, the next president is going to have to break the gridlock and make decisions that move us forward, strong and united.

I believe that I can be that kind of President. I first ran for mayor of New York because I was confident that with determined leadership, New York could be a sun shining city on a hill again. We cut crime and welfare in half, cut taxes 23 times and reduced the size of the government bureaucracy, all while working with a Democratic City Council.  We improved the effectiveness of government and the quality of life but most importantly we restored a sense of pride to our citizens.

When I look to the future I see a country where citizens that are confident control of their destiny. I believe that we can give the Americans fresh evidence that government can work again.  I believe that we can hand our nation to the next generation better than it was handed to us.

But I can't do it alone. I need your help. This is going to be a very different type of campaign. New technology gives one person the power to make a difference on a scale we could hardly imagine 20 or 30 years ago. That's why I hope you'll be coming back to our website. Volunteer, make a financial contribution and most importantly be a leader in your community by getting your friends involved in our campaign.

Over the course of this campaign I'll use this website to talk directly to you. Your support is important and I appreciate it. Together we can renew our sense of optimism and build a better future for all Americans.
