Dr. Paul diagnoses healthcare problems… presents voters with cure

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul has released a new television advertisement on the issue of healthcare. The ad is set to run in Iowa and New Hampshire.

The 30 second television spot highlights Ron Paul's commitment to giving Americans the power to take control of their healthcare choices by stopping pharmaceutical interests, powerful insurance companies, and government bureaucrats from interfering with doctor-patient decisions.

Below is the transcript of the ad:

(Narrator) Big tug of war going on in healthcare these days. One side's big business; HMO's, drug companies, you get the idea. The other side's the government; same guys who kept wounded Iraq War vets in moldy, rodent-infested rooms for months. Some choice!

I say we need Ron Paul for president. One, he's a doctor, he's seen it all. Two, he's got the right idea, take the power from big business and the bureaucrats and give it back to the patients and the doctors they choose. Now that's the right medicine.

Ron Paul Campaign Harnesses Web for YouTube Debate

ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – The Ron Paul campaign continued to use the internet in dynamic and creative ways at the tonight's CNN/YouTube debate.  Each candidate was asked to submit a 30 second "YouTube style" commercial to air during the program. 

The Paul team harnessed the power and creativity of the internet and their army of on-line supporters.  The campaign held a contest to see who could produce the best advertisement, and submitted the winning entry to CNN to air on national television.

"The Ron Paul Campaign was pleased to honor the spirit of tonight's debate by using the power of YouTube to produce our spot," said campaign spokesman Jesse Benton.  "Our potent on-line grassroots network generated a tremendous video fit to air on national television."

Over 100 videos were submitted for consideration in the contest. Dr. Paul is currently running the top eCampaign of any candidate in the 2008 field.

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA—Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul today gained a public endorsement from Barry M. Goldwater, Jr.

Mr. Goldwater is the son of the late former Republican presidential candidate and Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater.  Barry Goldwater, Jr. served in the House of Representatives for six terms with Texas Congressman Paul, and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Goldwater Institute.  After representing northern Los Angeles County in Washington, D.C. for 14 years, Mr. Goldwater retired from politics in 1983 to pursue a successful career in business and humanitarian ventures.

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – The Ron Paul 2008 presidential campaign raised $5,080,000 during the third quarter of 2007.  That is an impressive 114 percent increase from the second quarter.

Cash on hand for the Paul campaign is $5,300,000.

"Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace and prosperity," said Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder.  "As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul's message."

Campaign ends third quarter with major fundraising, canvassing success

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – The Ron Paul Presidential Campaign concluded the third quarter of 2007 yesterday with two substantial milestones, raising over $1,000,000 on-line in one week and staging a major canvassing effort in the key battleground state of New Hampshire.

Paul campaign officials set an ambitious goal on Monday, September 24th to raise an additional $500,000 on-line in the final week of the third quarter. The effort brought in $200,000 on Tuesday alone and by Wednesday, having met its initial goal, the campaign raised the bar to $1,000,000. On Saturday night, the campaign passed the million dollar mark after just six days, and finished over $1,200,000 on-line in one week.

In addition to fundraising strength, the campaign also demonstrated strong boots-on-ground prowess, holding a rally and canvassing efforts in New Hampshire. On Saturday and Sunday, 29 members of the Paul Family were joined by hundreds of volunteers in a state wide door knocking effort that touched at least 12,000 Granite State households. The effort is believed to be the biggest two-day direct voter contact operation executed by a GOP candidate in New Hampshire this election cycle.

“From Los Angles to Manchester, from Seattle to Miami, our campaign continues to grow by the day,” said campaign manager Lew Moore. “No other candidate has captured the hearts of grassroots Americans like Dr. Paul. We will continue to build on our September success and push toward victory in January.”

Purple Heart Recipient, Christian Organizer, Veteran Republican Activist Joins Ron Paul 2008

DES MOINES, IOWA – Drew Ivers, PhD (Iowa State), has been named the Iowa Campaign Chairman for Ron Paul 2008.  Dr. Ivers brings a wealth of conservative political and leadership experience to the Paul campaign.

Dr. Ivers is a genetics scholar trained in the Iowa educational system and a Purple Heart honoree for his service in Vietnam.  He has been an Iowa Republican party activist for 30 years and is a four-time Republican National Convention delegate. Dr. Ivers is also a two-time Republican State Central Committee member and served on many Iowa campaigns including those of Roger Jepsen, Terry Branstad, Chuck Grassley, and Ronald Reagan. He served as Iowa State Campaign Chairman for Pat Buchanan in 1996 and 2000 and Pat Robertson in 1988 which also led to the creation of the initial Christian Coalition of Iowa (now known as the Iowa Christian Alliance).

"Drew Ivers' success as Iowa Chairman in three widely-watched Presidential campaigns makes him the perfect choice to help communicate to Iowans that Dr. Paul is staunchly pro-life, pro-taxpayer and a champion of liberty and the Constitution," said national campaign manager Lew Moore.

DES MOINES, IOWA – Carol Paul underwent successful surgery this morning to have a pace maker implanted. Ms. Paul is resting comfortably in a Des Moines area hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Dr. and Ms. Paul are grateful for the outpouring of concern from supporters and fellow candidates.
