Strong gubernatorial candidates at the top of the ticket can have a tremendous impact on down-ballot races, particularly in non-presidential years like 2010 when there will be 36 governors’ races. We look forward to working with the RNC team to implement a plan that makes sure the Party’s resources are used effectively in 2010. In this regard, Haley and I look forward to working with Chairman Steele.”
RGA Vice Chairman Governor Haley Barbour: “The Republican Party is most successful when it focuses on building from the bottom up, which results in strong gubernatorial candidates and strong state parties. The RGA is prepared to work with the RNC to make sure we have both. The RNC will also be able to use Governors as examples of Republican leaders who offer effective, conservative solutions even as the Democrats control Washington. Congratulations, Chairman Steele. Republican Governors look forward to working with you.”
