INDEPENDENCE, IA – Former Speaker Newt Gingrich today endorsed Ben Lange in Iowa’s 1st congressional district as the ‘Solutions Candidate.’ Ben Lange is running against the liberal Democrat incumbent Bruce Braley.

“Ben Lange has demonstrated a keen understanding of not only the grave economic challenges facing this nation, but also the first principles that are key to creating jobs in Iowa, growing the economy, reducing the tax burden on middle class families and small businesses, and ultimately protecting future generations from unsustainable debt obligations,” Gingrich said. “For this reason, I believe he is the type of candidate that voters across the political spectrum desperately need during these tough economic times. Ben Lange will make a fine congressman.”

Governor Romney travels to Illinois tomorrow, September 24th, where he will attend an RGA breakfast for Republican Governor candidate Bill Brady and a luncheon benefiting Congressman Mark Kirk’s U.S. Senate campaign. Romney also announced the endorsement of the following 10 additional Illinois candidates:

State Senator Bill Brady:  Bill Brady currently serves the people of Illinois in the State Senate, is now running to become the next Governor of Illinois.

Jason Plummer:  Jason Plummer, a small businessman, is now running to become the next Lieutenant Governor of Illinois.  

Congresswoman Judy Biggert:  Congresswoman Judy Biggert currently represents the 13th Congressional District of Illinois, and is running for reelection.  

Congressman Tim Johnson:  Congressman Tim Johnson currently represents the 15th Congressional District of Illinois, and is running for reelection.  

Congressman Don Manzullo:  Congressman Don Manzullo currently represents the 16th Congressional District of Illinois, and is running for reelection.  

Congressman John Shimkus:  Congressman John Shimkus currently represents the 19th Congressional District of Illinois, and is running for reelection.  

Bobby Schilling:  Bobby Schilling, a small businessman, is now running to represent the 17th Congressional District of Illinois.  

State Senator Dale Righter:  Dale Righter currently serves in the Illinois State Senate and is running for reelection. 

State Representative Patti Bellock:  Patti Bellock currently serves as an Illinois State Representative and is running for reelection. 

State Representative Rich Brauer:  Rich Brauer currently serves as an Illinois State Representative and is running for reelection. 

Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC announced that it is sending Brady’s gubernatorial campaign a $1,000 contribution, that it has already sent Plummer’s Lieutenant Governor campaign a $1,000 contribution, and that it is sending $2,500 each to the Congressional campaigns of Biggert, Johnson, Manzullo, Shimkus, and Schilling.

“At a time when too many of our elected officials put special interests ahead of the public interest, it is more important than ever that we elect candidates who are dedicated to enacting the pro-growth policies Illinois – and our country – needs.  Illinois is fortunate to have so many strong candidates dedicated to turning our economy around and I am proud stand with them today,” said Romney.

ST. PAUL, Minnesota – Today, Governor Tim Pawlenty’s Freedom First PAC endorsed John Raese to be the next United States Senator from West Virginia, and contributed $2,500 to Raese’s campaign.

“John is a common-sense guy who shares my commitment to stopping out-of-control government spending,” Pawlenty said. “The only way to restore fiscal sanity is by electing conservative leaders like John. As West Virginia’s Senator, John will fight to cut spending, stop tax increases and empower job creators to grow our economy.”

Mitt Romney Announces Additional Michigan Endorsements

Today, Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC announced the endorsement of the following additional Michigan candidates and said that it is committing a total of $8,400 in support to their campaigns:

John Kupiec:  John Kupiec, a small business owner, is now running to represent the 5th Congressional District of Michigan. 

Dr. Rob Steele:  Dr. Rob Steele, a cardiologist, is now running to represent the 15th Congressional District of Michigan.

Ruth Johnson:  Ruth Johnson currently serves as the Oakland County Clerk, and is now running to serve as Michigan’s next Secretary of State. 

The PAC announced that it is sending Kupiec and Steele each a $2,500 contribution toward their respective Congressional campaigns and that it is sending Johnson a $3,400 contribution toward her Secretary of State campaign.

“At a time when too many of our elected officials put special interests ahead of the public interest, it is more important than ever that we elect candidates who are dedicated to enacting conservative policies that will get Michigan – and our nation – back on the right track.  Michigan is fortunate to have so many strong candidates, and I am proud to announce these additional endorsements today,” said Romney.

This is an additional wave of Michigan endorsements announced this year by the PAC.  The PAC has previously endorsed the following Michigan candidates:

Rick Sndyer, a successful businessman, who is running to become Michigan’s next Governor;

Congressman Dave Camp, who currently represents the 4th Congressional District of Michigan, and is running for reelection;

Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, who currently represents the 11th Congressional District of Michigan, and is running for reelection;

Congresswoman Candice Miller, who currently represents the 10th Congressional District of Michigan, and is running for reelection;

Congressman Mike Rogers, who currently represents the 8th Congressional District of Michigan, and is running for reelection;

Congressman Fred Upton, who currently represents the 6th Congressional District of Michigan, and is running for reelection;

State Representative Justin Amash, who currently serves as a state representative and is now running to represent the 3rd Congressional District of Michigan;

Dan Benishek, a career surgeon, who is now running to represent the 1st Congressional District of Michigan;

Bill Huizenga, a small business owner and former state representative, who is now running to represent the 2nd Congressional District of Michigan;
