President Obama to Kick Off Two Day, Non-Stop "America Forward!" Tour in Davenport, Iowa on Wednesday

PRESIDENT OBAMA TO KICK OFF TWO DAY, NON-STOP “AMERICA FORWARD!” TOUR
President Obama to Crisscross the Country in Campaign Blitz; Vote Early in Chicago

CHICAGO— On Wednesday in Davenport, Iowa, President Obama will kick off a two day, around the clock campaign blitz across six battleground states. The “America Forward!” tour will crisscross the nation, reaching as many voters as possible about the critical choice in this election -- moving America forward toward an economy built to last with a strong middle class versus going back to the same policies that crashed our economy in the first place.

The President believes we have to work for every vote, and so every door knock, every phone call, and every volunteer could mean the difference between continuing our path forward or going back. On the “America Forward!” tour, the President will rally supporters, meet with volunteers, talk to undecided voters and cast his own ballot in this election.

After leaving Iowa on Wednesday, October 24, the President will rally voters in Denver, Colorado at the Meadow at City Park, followed by a late night grassroots event in Las Vegas, Nevada. The President will travel overnight to Tampa, Florida for a grassroots rally, and a tarmac event in Richmond, Virginia on Thursday. As the President crisscrosses the nation, he will spend time on Air Force One calling undecided voters, rallying National Team Leaders and volunteers and continuously engaging with Americans across the country about the choice in this election.

Following the event in Richmond, the President will then travel to Chicago to cast his ballot and make history by being the first sitting President to vote early in person. The President will end his two-day tour with an evening grassroots event in Cleveland, Ohio.

CHICAGO— On Wednesday, October 24, President Obama will kick-off his two-day, non-stop “America Forward!” tour with grassroots events in Iowa, Colorado and Nevada.  On Thursday, October 25, President Obama will continue the “America Forward” tour with grassroots events in Florida, Virginia and Ohio. The “America Forward!” tour will crisscross the nation, reaching as many voters as possible about the critical choice in this election -- moving America forward toward an economy built to last with a strong middle class versus going back to the same policies that crashed our economy in the first place. 

The President believes we have to work for every vote, because every door knock, every phone call, and every volunteer could mean the difference between continuing our path forward with President Obama’s vision to create an economy that’s built to last or going back to the same failed top-down economic policies that crashed our economy and punished the middle class. On the “America Forward!” tour, the President will rally supporters, meet with volunteers, talk to undecided voters and cast his own ballot in this election.

The President will start the day on Wednesday with a grassroots event in Davenport, Iowa followed by a grassroots event in Denver, Colorado and a late night grassroots event in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Day One of the “America Forward!” tour, President Obama will campaign in Davenport, Iowa, Denver, Colorado and Las Vegas, Nevada.  In Las Vegas, multi-platinum artist and supporter of the President, Katy Perry, will perform at the event.

On the second day of the “America Forward!” tour, the President will start the day with a grassroots event in Tampa, Florida followed by a grassroots event in Richmond, Virginia.  The President will then travel to Chicago to make history by being the first sitting President to vote early in-person.  The President will end the tour with a tarmac event at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland, Ohio.

EAU CLAIRE – Today, Saturday, October 20, Obama for America-Wisconsin will host canvass kick-offs in Eau Claire and Hudson. With just two days before early voting begins in Wisconsin, DNC Vice Chair and Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak will encourage volunteers and supporters to help organize their communities and promote voter registration and early voting through Own Your Vote.

Early voting in Wisconsin begins on Monday, October 22, and runs through Friday, November 2.

CHICAGO— The people of Ohio know the clear choice they face in this election.  OFA’s new television advertisement, “Made in Ohio,” features Ohioans who know just how important President Obama’s rescue of the auto industry was for them, their families, and their communities. They know too how it felt to hear Mitt Romney promise to let the whole industry collapse. That is why Ohioans understand that this election is about two fundamentally different visions of an economy: between moving America forward by building the economy from the middle class out, or taking us backward with a top-down approach.

CHICAGO -- Obama for America released a new television advertisement today highlighting the clear differences between Mitt Romney and President Obama on the crucial issue of education. Romney doesn’t believe putting more teachers in classrooms would grow the economy over the next four years, and he’s fought against efforts to reduce class sizes, saying it could actually be harmful. President Obama has a different view. He understands that smaller class sizes and great teachers are a key to building a stronger economy and a strong middle-class.

Four years ago, Barack Obama offered an inspiring message of hope and change to an uneasy nation bogged down in two wars and facing economic collapse. The rosy idealism quickly gave way to the harsh realities of the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. The recovery has proven more difficult than anyone imagined. But conditions would be far worse without the president's steady leadership. This is not the time to reverse course and return to the failed policies of the past. Without hesitation, the Tampa Bay Times recommends Barack Obama for re-election as president.

KEY POINTS:

· Obama has moved the country in the right direction on school reform. On higher education, he has taken steps to address affordability through increasing Pell Grants and streamlining the student-loan process. His executive order that allows qualified illegal immigrants brought here as children a chance to pursue college degrees is a positive step - though much remains to be done on immigration reform.

· As commander in chief, he has demonstrated himself capable in a tough situation. He eliminated the military's discriminatory "don't ask don't tell" policy, limited this country's involvement in Libya while still playing a role in the ouster of Moammar Khadafy, and hasn't allowed the U.S. to be drawn into the Syrian civil war. He has remained a friend to Israel, but isn't engaging in war talk over the Iranian nuclear issue.

· From running to the far right on immigration and women's health in the primary and then saddling his campaign with Rep. Paul Ryan's extreme and unrealistic budget, the Romney of this election cycle is not the man elected in Massachusetts.

· On policies ranging from tax reform to immigration, from health care to higher education, none of Romney's numbers add up. Moreover, he has been unwilling or unable to outline for voters specifics that demonstrate his math works - probably because it doesn't.

· He's calling for 20 percent tax rate cuts across the board. Independent analysts say the government can't come close to making up for that lost revenue without closing popular deductions like those for home-mortgage interest and charitable contributions. Romney's explanations for how he would do that don't wash.

· And his pledge to create 12 million jobs in four years sounds good, but Moody's Analytics has predicted that type of job growth regardless of who is elected.
