National Association of Police Organizations Endorses Obama-Biden Ticket

CHICAGO –  Today, the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) endorsed President Obama and Vice President Biden from the floor of their 34th annual convention in Palm Beach County, Florida. Vice President Joe Biden spoke to the convention earlier this week.
 
“NAPO is proud to endorse the Obama-Biden ticket today,” said NAPO President Thomas J. Nee. “This Administration’s unwavering support for law enforcement has meant that men and women in uniform across the country have the resources they need to do their jobs safely and efficiently, protecting the communities and citizens they serve. There are simply no better friends of law enforcement – and no stronger choice to lead this nation for another term – than President Obama and Vice President Biden.”

“The President and I are honored to accept the endorsement of the National Association of Police Organizations,” said Vice President Joe Biden. “Over the past week, we again saw the incredible sacrifices of our nation’s police officers and first responders. Every day these brave men and women put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe – running into harm’s way when everyone else is running out. The President and I will continue to do everything we can to keep police officers across the country on the beat and fight back against cuts that would put our public safety at risk, and make an already tough job even tougher.”

CHICAGO -- Obama for America released a new television advertisement today titled “Always.” Despite the Romney campaign’s attempts to distort President Obama’s words, the President has always believed in the drive and ingenuity of America’s entrepreneurs and workers. He believes the only way to create an economy built to last is to build it from the middle out, not the top down. Ensuring a strong economy starts with investments in education, energy, innovation and infrastructure, continuing to help our entrepreneurs and workers grow our economy and the middle class.

The American people have a clear choice in this election between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt.

“Always” will air in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, and Nevada.

"Those ads taking my words about small business out of context; they're flat out wrong. Of course Americans build their own business. Everyday hard-working people sacrifice to meet a payroll, create jobs, and make our economy run.

CHICAGO -- Obama for America released a new television advertisement today titled “The Choice.” The American people will decide over the next four month between two fundamentally different plans for our country, and OFA’s new ad features President Obama laying out the choice of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt. The President’s plan ensures everyone pays their fair share and still invests in the things we need to create jobs and grow our economy over the long term, like education, energy, and infrastructure.

“The Choice” will air in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

"Over the next four months you have a choice to make. Not just between two political parties or even two people. It's a choice between two very different plans for our country.

Governor Romney's plan would cut taxes for the folks at the very top, roll back regulations on big banks, and he says that if we do our economy will grow and everyone will benefit.

But you know what? We tried that top-down approach. It's what caused the mess in the first place.

I believe the only way to create an economy built to last is to strengthen the middle class. Asking the wealthy to pay a little more so we can pay down our debt in a balanced way. So that we can afford to invest in education, manufacturing, and homegrown American energy for good middle class jobs. Sometimes politics can seem very small. But the choice you face, it couldn't be bigger."

President Obama Will Begin a Three-day Trip to Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington & Louisiana on Monday, July 23, 2012

PRESIDENT OBAMA TO VISIT NEVADA, CALIFORNIA, OREGON, WASHINGTON AND LOUISIANA
                              
CHICAGO – Obama for America today announced that on Monday, July 23, President Obama will begin a three-day trip to Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington and Louisiana.

The President will travel to Reno, Nevada for an official event before traveling to Oakland, California for three fundraising events on Monday.  On Tuesday, July 24, he will deliver remarks at a Grassroots Event in Portland where he will lay out his vision to rebuild the economy from the middle-out, cut taxes for small businesses and reduce the country’s deficit.  Then, he will attend two fundraising events in Portland.  Tuesday evening, the President will travel to Seattle, Washington for two fundraising events. On Wednesday, July 25, he will travel to New Orleans, Louisiana for an official event.  He will also host two fundraising events in New Orleans.

President Obama to Address VFW National Convention in Reno, Nevada on July 23, 2012

PRESIDENT OBAMA TO ADDRESS VFW NATIONAL CONVENTION
The president’s appearance continues a long standing VFW tradition

WASHINGTON (July 10, 2012) – The president has accepted an invitation to speak before the 113th National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., which begins July 21 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev. The event is closed to the public.
 
“We are very grateful to President Obama for choosing to address America’s oldest and largest major combat veterans’ organization,” said VFW National Commander Richard L. DeNoyer, a retired Marine and Vietnam combat veteran from Middleton, Mass.
 
The president’s appearance continues a long standing VFW tradition that provides a platform for those seeking the nation’s highest office to address issues of importance to veterans, military service members and their families. DeNoyer said this is especially important during a time of war and instability abroad, and economic belt tightening at home.
 
“What we hope to hear is how he will continue to take the fight to our enemies, while keeping America safe through strong national defense and homeland security programs,” he said. “We also want to know how he will create, enhance and protect veteran and military healthcare programs, benefits and Quality of Life initiatives, as well as hear a renewed commitment to return our fallen from their battlefields.”
 
President Obama is scheduled to speak on July 23. He last spoke at the VFW National Convention in 2009, and prior to then as a presidential candidate in 2007 and 2008.

CHICAGO – On Friday, July 20, First Lady Michelle Obama will travel to Virginia to officially launch "It Takes One," a new Obama for America initiative that aims to enlist every supporter nationwide to help continue building the campaign's grassroots organization between now and November. Announced in a campaign video to campaign supporters this morning, It Takes One emphasizes the impact that every single person can have in this election. Whether it's by registering one new voter or talking to one more neighbor every week, It Takes One urges supporters who haven't yet gotten engaged in the election to start small – and to never underestimate the value of their contribution.

"Every single person can make a difference in this election – and today we’re asking supporters to start by taking one action that will help grow our campaign," said First Lady Michelle Obama. "Help one new voter get registered through GottaVote.org, recruit one more volunteer, or bring a friend to the next phone bank you attend. If we all commit to finding at least one way to make an impact, we can ensure that we'll keep moving this country forward for another four years.”

The First Lady will lead the It Takes One program – a coordinated effort that includes digital, paid media and grassroots organizing components – and will personally take part in It Takes One outreach and grassroots activities, such as building local Neighborhood Teams. Next week, Obama for America organizations in battleground states will launch state-based It Takes One efforts with events designed to engage new volunteers and in their communities.

This ground up approach to organization-building has been a hallmark of the Obama campaign, and the President and First Lady often remind voters about the impact they can have by getting engaged on the community level. By taking it one step further and encouraging supporters to start small, the campaign aims to engage new people and build its organizational reach even further.

The First Lady will officially launch the program during campaign stops in Virginia tomorrow: first, she will deliver remarks at an Obama for America Women Vote 2012 event in Charlottesville, and later, she will speak to grassroots supporters in Fredericksburg.
