Biden’s Trip Focused on Outreach to Veterans and Military Families

DES MOINES - On Thursday and Friday, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden, will campaign for President Obama in Iowa. He will lay out the differences between President Obama and Mitt Romney’s plans for veterans and their families. Biden is a major in the Delaware Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2008.

The President knows that sacred trust we have with those who serve and protect our nation. It's a commitment that begins at enlistment, and it must never end -- we owe our veterans and their families the care they were promised and the benefits they have earned. 

July is Veterans for Obama Month, which was announced during the launch of the Veterans & Military Families for Obama Steering Committee on July 2.

CHICAGO, IL – On Thursday, July 19, Vice President Joe Biden will travel to Columbus, Ohio as part of the “Made in Ohio Manufacturing Tour.” The Vice President will highlight the impact of President Obama’s efforts to strengthen Ohio’s manufacturing industry and bolster middle-class security for Ohio’s workers. Manufacturers are creating jobs for the first time since the late 1990s, with Ohio adding 44,700 manufacturing jobs since the economic recovery began, and the auto industry – which supports one in eight jobs in Ohio – going from teetering on the brink of collapse in 2009 to making a comeback. The Vice President will also discuss the choice in this election between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt..  The President and the Vice President believe the only way to build an economy meant to last is to build it from the middle out, not the top down.  He will discuss the President’s plan to restore middle class security by paying down our debt in a balanced way that ensures everyone pays their fair share and still invests in the things we need to create jobs and grow our economy over the long term, like education, energy, innovation, and infrastructure.

Gabrielle Union will talk about how President Obama and Mitt Romney offer African Americans and all Americans two fundamentally different visions of how to run the country.  President Obama is focused on creating jobs and restoring economic security. He understands that too many African Americans have been hurt by a decade of declining wages and unemployment and he’s fought for policies that give everyone a fair shot and the opportunity to succeed.

In 2011, President Obama appointed Union to the National Committee for Violence Against Women. In February, she first campaigned for President Obama at North Carolina Central University.

On Thursday, July 19, the President will travel to Jacksonville and West Palm Beach, Florida

CHICAGO- On Thursday, July 19, President Obama will kick off a two-day tour across Florida, where he will discuss the choice in this election between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt.  The President believes the only way to build an economy meant to last is to build it from the middle out, not the top down.  He will discuss his plan to restore middle-class security by paying down our debt in a balanced way that ensures everyone pays their fair share and still invests in the things we need to create jobs and grow our economy over the long term, like education, energy, innovation, and infrastructure. 

The President will also repeat his call on Congress to act now to give middle-class families some certainty by preventing a scheduled tax increase on 98 percent of Americans, including families across Florida.  President Obama has already cut taxes for a typical Florida family by $3,400 over four years helping families afford to send their children to college, buy their first home, pay for health care and child care.

President Obama will also hold campaign events in Fort Myers and Orlando, Florida on Friday, July 20. Details on additional stops will be announced in the following days.
