Atlanta, GA – Newt 2012 released its new television ad featuring “the moment” from last night’s Fox News debate in South Carolina, during which Newt Gingrich received the only standing ovation of the 15 Republican debates.

On the campaign trail today in Myrtle Beach, Florence, Columbia and Aiken, the buzz and momentum are clearly with Newt Gingrich as he consolidates conservative support around him. The new ad, which begins airing in South Carolina tonight, reminds voters that Newt Gingrich is the only candidate who is tough enough to go toe-to-toe in debates with Barack Obama and defeat him in November.

Beverly LaHaye Endorses Newt Gingrich for President

Atlanta, GA - Beverly LaHaye has endorsed Newt Gingrich for president and will be joining Gingrich Faith Leaders Coalition as a national co-chair, along with her husband, Pastor Tim LaHaye, who joined last week.

“It appears it will be between two front runners, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. I have worked along beside Speaker Gingrich and know he has a history of being a strong conservative,” LaHaye said.

“I have chosen to back him because he supports the key issues and values that I consider most important. I believe he is most capable of defending these beliefsas he exposes the liberalism of this present president.”

LaHaye will join the rapidly growing coalition launched a few days ago, led by Christian market researcher George Barna. "Today I am pleased to endorse Newt Gingrich for president.
 
"Newt Gingrich’s singularly bold plan for economic recovery, his unmatched record of conservative achievement and job creation, his unwavering commitment to the core principles enshrined in our Constitution, and his unmatched debate skill means he is far and away the best Republican candidate to challenge and defeat Barack Obama this November.

ICYMI: Recent Polls Show Newt as Clear Conservative Alternative in SC

Three recent polls show Newt Gingrich emerging as the clear conservative alternative to Mitt Romney in South Carolina.

An American Research Group (ARG) poll shows Newt Gingrich closing the gap with Mitt Romney to just four points in South Carolina, while support for Rick Santorum has collapsed from 24% to just 7% in 7 days.

The results: Romney 29%. Gingrich 25%. Paul 20%. Perry 9%. Santorum 7%. Huntsman 1%. Other 2%. Undecided 7%.

These polls reinforce trends that show Gingrich emerging as the clear conservative alternative to Mitt Romney in South Carolina.

· Evangelical Support. Gingrich has a commanding lead among evangelical Christians with 40% support compared to Governor Perry with 15% in second.

· Tea Party Support. Gingrich leads amongst supporters of the Tea party 28% to Governor Romney’s 24%.

Meanwhile, Governor Romney is losing his support amongst independents to Ron Paul, suggesting that the Governor’s support amongst independents is not strong, and would be lost to President Obama in the general election.

This poll from ARG echoes the findings of two other recent polls.

An Insider Advantage Poll from January 11th shows Newt Gingrich in a statistical tie with Governor Romney with 21% support to the Governor’s 23%. Rick Santorum has faded to 14% support, with Ron Paul at 13%, Jon Huntsman at 7% and Rick Perry at 5%.

Orlando, FL – Newt Gingrich released the following statement calling for truth and accuracy from campaigns and so-called “Super-PACs” supporting candidates.

“The American people have a right to know the facts about the records of the men and women who are asking them for their vote.

“Governor Romney is running as someone who knows how to create jobs.  In fact, he has claimed to have created 100,000 jobs while at Bain Capital.  However, numerous analyses have said that figure is as inaccurate as President Obama’s claim to have “saved or created” millions of jobs.

“Furthermore, Governor Romney’s experience as a portfolio manager did not help him create an environment in Massachusetts that was friendly to job creation.  As Governor, Mitt Romney raised $700 million in taxes and fees, despite a campaign pledge not to, and Massachusetts ranked 4th worst in job creation under his leadership.

“These are just some of the facts which President Obama would use to undercut Governor Romney’s claims to be a job creator if he is the Republican nominee.  Given these facts, it is entirely appropriate for Republican Primary voters to ask questions to determine whether Governor Romney is presenting himself in an accurate light.

“This call for accuracy, however, is a two way street.  Just as candidates must be certain to accurately present their own records, they also have a responsibility to describe the records of their fellow candidates accurately.  And they have a responsibility to make sure that their supporters are doing the same.

“This week, fact check organizations like The Washington Post and Politifact have ranked advertisements produced by Super-PACs supporting Governor Romney and myself as containing enormous inaccuracies.

“I am calling for the Winning Our Future Super-PAC supporting me to either edit its “King of Bain” advertisement and movie to remove its inaccuracies, or to pull it off the air and off the internet entirely.

“Furthermore, I am once again calling on Governor Romney to issue a similar call for the Super-PAC supporting him to edit or remove its ads which have been shown to contain gross inaccuracies, something the Governor has thus far refused to do.

“The American people deserve a robust debate and full comparison of the plans and records of the people who are asking for their vote.  They also deserve assurances that the information they are hearing is accurate.  I am committed to holding my campaign and my supporters to this high standard of accuracy and I hope Governor Romney will do the same.”

Atlanta, GA - Pastor Tim LaHaye has endorsed Newt Gingrich for president, and will be joining his Gingrich Faith Leaders Coalition as a national co-chair.

In a letter to South Carolina pastors, LaHaye urged them to vote for Gingrich because he is in the best “strategic position” to improve America.
