Rasmussen Reports 2012 Iowa General Election: Romney 47%, Obama 46%

President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are in a near tie in Rasmussen Reports’ first look at the critical battleground state of Iowa.

A new telephone survey of Likely Iowa Voters shows Romney earning 47% support to Obama’s 46%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

CHICAGO, IL -- On Thursday, June 14, President Obama will deliver remarks at the Cuyahoga Community College Metropolitan Campus in Cleveland, Ohio, on two contrasting visions for our economy.

In his remarks, the President will outline the choice in this election: between a vision for moving our country forward, ensuring that our economy is built to last and restoring economic security for the middle class, and Mitt Romney’s vision, based on the same failed economic policies that brought on the worst crisis since the Great Depression. Romney Economics is familiar and troubling: more budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthy; fewer rules for Wall Street – the same formula that benefitted a few, but that crashed our economy and devastated the middle class.

Obama for America Releases New Television Advertisement: “Number One”

CHICAGO, IL -- Today, Obama for America released a new television advertisement titled “Number One” that highlights Mitt Romney's failed economic record as Governor of Massachusetts. As governor, Mitt Romney added $2.6 billion to the state’s debt, leaving Massachusetts more than $18 billion in debt and number one in per person debt of any state in the country.  At the same time, Massachusetts plummeted to 47th out of 50 in job creation – one of the worst economic records across the nation.

As president, Romney has promised to do the same thing. He’ll explode the deficit with $5 trillion in tax breaks weighted to millionaires and billionaires that he refuses to say how he'll pay for and do nothing to grow our economy.  America can’t afford the same results. The bottom line is simple – Romney Economics didn’t work then, and it won’t work now.

In stark contrast to Mitt Romney, the President has a balanced and detailed plan to reduce the deficit by $4 trillion dollars -- including $2 trillion in deficit reduction already signed into law -- while still making smart, responsible investments to strengthen the middle class and grow our economy over the long term.

“Number One” will air in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
