Democratic National Convention Committee Announces Deposit of Funds in Asian American-Serving Bank
CHARLOTTE – The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) announced the investment of a $500,000 convention deposit into East West Bank, a community bank serving the Asian American community. The funds were deposited in a non-interest bearing account, to help the bank expand their lending and economic development efforts across the southeast region.
With each convention, the Democratic National Convention Committee has deposited a portion of its federal grant in minority-owned banks in the city where the convention is being held. The tradition aims to provide local business institutions and their customers with financial and public support in advance of the convention. The DNCC also deposited funds in a North Carolina African American and Latino community bank.
“The DNCC is proud to make a third investment that will create opportunities for the Asian American community,” said DNCC CEO Steve Kerrigan. “The convention seeks to engage all Americans and this deposit will help us achieve our goal.”
Headquartered in California, East West Bank has branches across the country. The DNCC deposit was made at the Georgia branch, one of the closest branches to Charlotte and the Democratic National Convention.
“East West Bank appreciates the DNCC’s deposit and the opportunity to offer financial services to a wider range of customers. We will use these funds to increase our community outreach work and expand our lending and economic development efforts,” said East West Bank’s Chairman and CEO Dominic Ng.
Congressman Mike Honda, Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee also expressed the following, “The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community is an important part of our national fabric, and we hope all our AAPI brothers and sisters will participate in the convention this September. This deposit is another example of the Democratic National Convention Committee’s commitment to diversity and to ensuring that the voices of all Americans are heard.”
The Democratic National Convention Committee is committed to engaging Americans of all backgrounds. As part of an unprecedented diversity contracting policy, the convention established a goal of at least one-third aggregate spending with Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs), Women Business Enterprises (WBEs), Disability-Owned Businesses, LGBT-Owned Businesses and Veteran-Owned Businesses for its contracts and projects.

Announcing the numbers, Romney Victory National Finance Chairman Spencer Zwick said, “We are encouraged by the financial support from a broad range of voters. To them, whether they are Republican, Democrat, Independent, a first time political donor, or a former Obama donor, this is not just a campaign; it's an opportunity for the country. It is clear that people aren't willing to buy into ‘hope & change’ again. Voters are making an investment because they believe that it will benefit the country.”
“Our strong fundraising is a sign that Americans are tired of President Obama’s broken promises and want a change of direction in the White House,” said Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. “We will continue the hard work of raising the resources to defeat President Obama so that we can elect Mitt Romney and Republicans up and down the ballot to get our country on the right track again.”

Obama for America Releases New Television Advertisement: “Jobs”
CHICAGO, IL -- Obama for America today released a new television advertisement called “Jobs” that asks Americans to join the President in calling on Congress to pass his commonsense bipartisan plan to create jobs now as we continue to recover from the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and rebuild an economy that's meant to last.
Nearly nine months ago, President Obama gave a speech before Congress where he laid out the American Jobs Act, with ideas to cut taxes to help small businesses hire and grow, rebuild American infrastructure, create pathways back to work for Americans looking for jobs, and cut taxes for every American worker and their families – all paid for within the President’s long-term deficit reduction plan. The plan would create 1.9 million jobs, according to an independent economist.
After pressure from the American people, Republican leaders in Congress agreed to end their obstruction and cut payroll taxes, extended unemployment insurance, and created a new tax credit for businesses that hire unemployed veterans. But it left most of the ideas –and over 1 million jobs –on the table. And it has not yet acted on any of the five common-sense ideas in President Obama’s to-do list: cutting taxes for small businesses that hire or raise wages and for companies that bring jobs home, expanding refinancing for responsible homeowners, creating a veterans jobs corps, and investing in clean energy manufacturing.
The President is calling on Congress to put country ahead of politics and take steps to create a million jobs now. America’s businesses have created almost 4.3 million new jobs over the last 27 months but our economy is still recovering from its greatest crisis since the Great Depression and there’s still more work to do.
“Jobs” is airing in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It will also be airing on national cable starting next week.

Ron Paul Statement on Campaign Going Forward Efforts so far put supporters “in a tremendous position to grow our movement and shape the future” of the Republican Party
LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul issued the following statement to supporters, members the media, and interested parties concerning his campaign going forward. Below please find comments from Congressman Paul:
“I wanted you to get an update from me personally, since we have some great news!
“Due to the smart planning of our campaign and the hard work and diligence of supporters like you, we stand to send nearly 200 bound delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa. This number shatters the predictions of the pundits and talking heads and shows the seriousness of our movement.
“What's more, we will send several hundred additional supporters to Tampa who, while bound to Romney, believe in our ideas of liberty, constitutional government, and a common-sense foreign policy.
“When it is all said and done, we will likely have as many as 500 supporters as delegates on the Convention floor. That is just over 20 percent!
“And while this total is not enough to win the nomination, it puts us in a tremendous position to grow our movement and shape the future of the GOP!
“I hope every one of you continues the fight we have advanced so well this year. I hope you will finish your local and state conventions, and, if you were selected as a national delegate, that you will head to Tampa in August to force the Republican Party to listen to the voice of liberty.
“We have never had this kind of opportunity. There will be hundreds of your fellow supporters in Tampa who will be ready and willing to push the Republican Party back to its limited government, liberty roots.
“There are many issues to fight for in Tampa. Also, candidates like Justin Amash, Kurt Bills, and Thomas Massie need your support as we move into the fall. Across the country, supporters of liberty have won local office and leadership positions in the GOP, and we need to keep working.
“Our delegates’ presence must be felt both in Tampa and in years to come.
“Stand up for what we believe in. Be respectful. And let the establishment know that we are the future of the Party and of the country.
“Our Revolution is just getting started. You'll be hearing plenty from me as we approach Tampa and the fall elections. You'll also be hearing of important developments on Audit the Fed and Campaign for Liberty.
“I hope you'll continue to stand with me as we go forward. Our Revolution could not have come this far without you.
