Atlanta, GA – Newt Gingrich issued the following statement reacting to the results of the Illinois primary.

“To defeat Barack Obama, Republicans can’t nominate a candidate who relies on outspending his opponents 7-1.  Instead, we need a nominee who offers powerful solutions that hold the president accountable for his failures.  Over the past few weeks, my $2.50 gas plan has shown how America could have cheaper gas, more jobs and greater national security while putting the White House on the defense over their anti-American energy policies.  This is the type of leadership I can offer as the nominee, and this campaign will spend between now and when the delegates vote in Tampa relentlessly taking the fight to President Obama to make this case.”

MITT ROMNEY ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF AGUADILLA, PUERTO RICO MAYOR CARLOS MÉNDEZ; GAINS ONE MORE DELEGATE

Boston, MA – Mitt Romney today announced the endorsement of Carlos Méndez, the Mayor of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. With Mayor Méndez’s support, Mitt Romney has now won all 23 of Puerto Rico’s delegates. Mayor Méndez is the chairman of the Republican Party of Puerto Rico and is a former supporter of Newt Gingrich.

“Ann and I were welcomed with open arms by the people of Puerto Rico and were overwhelmed by the reception we received on the island,” said Mitt Romney. “I was honored to have the support of the voters of Puerto Rico in their primary on Sunday and am again honored to have Mayor Méndez’s support.”

“While I originally supported Newt Gingrich and still believe that he can be a leader in our party, it is time that Republicans unite behind one candidate,” said Mayor Méndez. “Puerto Ricans overwhelmingly supported Governor Romney on Sunday and it is clear that he is the most capable candidate to bring jobs to Puerto Rico and fix the mess in Washington, DC. Ron Paul to Hold Two Large Town Hall Meetings at Louisiana College and Southeastern Louisiana University

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul will hold two large town hall meetings on college campuses in Louisiana, continuing the 12-term Congressman from Texas’ tradition of attracting large crowds of supporters and undecided voters.
 
The college campus town hall meetings will occur on Friday, March 23rd beginning in the afternoon.  Both events are free and open to the public as well as the university communities.
 
The first of Ron Paul’s campus town hall meeting will take place at 1 p.m. CST in Louisiana College’s Guinn Auditorium, located at 1140 College Drive, Pineville, LA 71360.  Doors open to the public at 12:30 p.m. 
 
The second of Dr. Paul’s two campus town hall meetings will occur at 7 p.m. CST at Southeastern Louisiana University’s University Center, located at 800 West University Avenue, Hammond, LA 70402.  Doors open to the public at 6:30 p.m.

Democratic National Convention Committee Encourages Local Firms to Apply for Exposition Services Subcontracts
 
CHARLOTTE – The Democratic National Convention Committee is encouraging local firms to apply for subcontracts to provide exposition services for the convention. Subcontracts are available for a wide range of services—from moving and storage to graphic production to golf carts.
 
The DNCC previously awarded Hargrove, Inc., one of the top general services contractors in the United States, with the exposition and event services provider contract in October.
 
All firms wishing to bid for a subcontract must register with the Convention Vendor Directory at www.demconvention.com. Request for qualifications (RFQs) are now available on the directory.
 
“The success of the convention will depend in part on the involvement and ingenuity of local North Carolina firms,” said DNCC Chief Executive Officer Steve Kerrigan. “These subcontracting opportunities are an incredible way for local companies to expand their business and provide critical services to the convention effort. I encourage all interested firms to register with the Convention Vendor Directory as soon as possible.”
 
Potential exposition services subcontracting opportunities are available in the following fields:

• Moving and storage
• Janitorial services
• Tenting
• Exterior Fencing
• Graphic Production
• Exterior Trash Removal/Waste Management
• Golf Carts
• Radios

The DNCC will evaluate the proposals based on numerous criteria, including, but not limited to: experience, reliability, relationships to Charlotte, North Carolina, and the surrounding region, participation of union labor, women, minorities and persons with disabilities, and local resources to support the endeavor.
