Herman Cain to Address Georgia State Senate

(Stockbridge, GA)—Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain will address the Georgia State Senate at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31.  A press conference on the interior Capitol steps will follow the speech.

Cain will discuss his recent trip to Israel as well as “Cain’s Vision for Economic Growth,” including his “9-9-9 Plan” during the press conference, which will start at 11 a.m.

Cain is the second presidential candidate to address a legislative body in Georgia, and he is the only candidate from Georgia to do so.  He looks forward to speaking with legislators from his home state and to discussing his bold and innovative economic plan with the press.

This event will allow Cain to expand upon the jobs plan that he rolled out in South Carolina in July. The Georgia State Capitol is home to many who agree with Cain’s stance on the economy, and it is a very appropriate place to discuss economic issues facing America.

Georgia Republican Officials and Lawmakers Endorse Gingrich for President

Officials Line Up to Endorse Gingrich for President

Atlanta, GA - With hours to go before the Georgia GOP straw poll in Perry this weekend, the Newt 2012 campaign announced a list of Republican lawmakers and elected officials who have endorsed Newt Gingrich for President.

Georgia Legislators:

State Sen. Judson Hill (R-Marietta). Hill is chairman of the Senate Government Oversight Committee and has turned to Gingrich for ideas on health reform.

State Rep. Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta), chairman of the House Health and Human Services Committee. Cooper has been a longtime ally of Gingrich.

State Rep. Joe Wilkinson (R-Sandy Springs). Wilkinson is chairman of the House Ethics Committee and served in the Reagan Administration.

State Rep. Harry Geisinger (R-Roswell). Geisinger first served in the House from 1969-1974 and was re-elected when Republicans took the Majority in 2004. He used to be a guest speaker in Professor Gingrich’s history classes at West Georgia College in Carrollton.

State Rep. Sean Jerguson (R-Canton). Jerguson is chairman of the Cherokee County legislative delegation.

State Rep. Paulette Braddock (R-Hiram). Braddock is a freshman from Paulding County who is assisting on the Newt 2012 leadership team in Georgia.

State Rep. Matt Hatchett (R-Dublin). Hatchett is one of the Governor's floor leader and a small business owner from middle Georgia. He now holds the seat currently held by former longtime minority leader Rep. Dubose Porter.

“The Georgia Republican Party has come a long way,” Gingrich said. “I am proud to have the support of my fellow Republicans.”

Gingrich went on to say that his relationships with some elected officials go back forty years or more when Republicans were hard to find in Georgia.

“I have known some of these folks since my first days in Republican politics,” said the former House Speaker. “Together we have worked to make America stronger, freer and more prosperous. With a new President we can go even further, and I am grateful to have them on my team..”

State Rep. Joe Wilkinson, who worked in the Reagan White House press office, called Gingrich “America’s Winston Churchill.”

“They too had to turn to the brightest candidate and the one with the most vision to save their nation,” Wilkinson said. “Newt is the candidate who can save and restore America.”

DES MOINES, IA: In overnight developments, former New York Governor George Pataki has informed Polk County (IA) Republican officials he will not be making an appearance at the Polk GOP Picnic on Saturday August 27.

The former three-term Governor from New York has also issued the following statement regarding weeks of speculation about a run for the Presidency(excerpted):

"Today, my family and I have reached the very difficult decision not to seek the office of President of the United States... While I have chosen not to run, I remain committed to the cause and will support a candidate who offers the vision, the ideas and the leadership to bring an end to America's debt crisis."

Gov. Rick Perry Announces Iowa Team for Presidential Campaign

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has announced key members of his Iowa leadership for his presidential campaign. Matt Gronewald will serve as state director for Perry's Iowa campaign, Robert Haus will serve as Iowa chairman, and Ruth Haus will serve as a senior consultant to the governor.

Gronewald, who was the deputy executive director for the state party, is considered a rising star in Iowa political circles. Gronewald was a strategist behind the GOP legislative campaigns that led Republicans to win control of the Iowa House in 2010. In 2006, he also managed Republican Bill Dix’s bid for Congress.

A lifelong Iowan, Robert Haus has worked on all levels of state and federal races, including leadership roles for Senator Phil Gramm and Steve Forbes during their presidential campaigns. He is currently vice president for public affairs for Des Moines based PolicyWorks LLC, a public affairs company. Prior to joining Policy Works, Robert and his wife Ruth owned and operated Eagle Media Group, a full service media production company.

Before moving to Iowa in 2002, Ruth Haus spent the previous 18 years in Washington, D.C., where she served as vice president of corporate communications for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Her involvement in politics included running Steve Forbes’ presidential campaign in 2000 as deputy campaign manager and COO, deputy executive director of the National Republican Congressional Committee and deputy political director of the Republican National Committee. The first campaign Ruth worked on was George Bush’s successful 1988 presidential campaign, after which she worked in the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.
