Birmingham, AL - Bill Armistead, Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, announced today that Texas Governor Rick Perry will be the keynote speaker at the Party's Summer Dinner. The dinner will be held this year on Friday, August 12th, at the Ross Bridge Resort and Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama, and will be hosted by Governor Robert Bentley and First Lady of Alabama, Dianne Bentley.
 
“Dianne and I are excited that Governor Rick Perry will visit Alabama this summer,” said Governor Robert Bentley. “It is always exciting to welcome another Republican Governor to our state and I look forward to hearing Governor Perry’s message at the summer dinner.”
 
Recently elected to his third term as the Governor of the Lone Star State, Governor Perry has also held the office of Lt. Governor, Agriculture Commissioner and was a member of the State House Representatives in Texas. A graduate and former member of the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M, Perry was also a pilot and Captain in the U.S. Air Force. The current Chairman of the Republican Governors Association, he has a strong record of being an outspoken defender of conservative principles and fiscal responsibility. With increasing frequency, Governor Perry's name is being mentioned as a possible contender for the Republican nomination for President.

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE GARY JOHNSON TO VISIT IOWA JUNE 13, 17-18

June 10, 2011, Santa Fe, NM - Presidential candidate Gary Johnson will visit Iowa next week, June 13 and 17-18. The former New Mexico Governor will be attending events in Council Bluffs (June 13), Cedar Rapids (June 17) and Des Moines (June 18). This will be Johnson’s first visit to Iowa since announcing his candidacy for president April 21 in New Hampshire.
