Iowa GOP To Host Celebration Of The US Constitution On June 25th On Eve Of 2010 Convention

Iowa Republicans to Celebrate the Constitution Congressman Ron Paul, Author Tom Woods are Featured Guests   DES MOINES – The Republican Party of Iowa announced today that on the eve of the Party’s state convention, it will host a celebration of the United States Constitution on Friday, June 25 in Des Moines. Congressman Ron Pul (R-TX) and New York Times bestselling author Tom Woods are featured guests.   Congressman Paul is widely respected among his colleagues as being an advocate for liberty, never voting for legislation unless it is authorized by the Constitution. Paul, a doctor who has delivered thousands of babies, continues to work for a dramatic reduction in the size of the federal government and a return to constitutional principles. He also competed in Iowa’s presidential caucuses in 2008.   Tom Woods has authored nine books, including two New York Times bestsellers. His latest book, to be released later this month, is titled “Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century.” Pre-release copies will be available for purchase at the event.   Iowa GOP Chairman Matt Strawn said, “Dr. Ron Paul and Tom Woods are highly respected advocates and defenders of our constitutional liberties. Today, Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC announced the endorsement of a second wave of Nevada candidates:
 
Brian Sandoval: Brian Sandoval formerly served as a federal judge and Nevada Attorney General, and is now running to become Nevada’s next Governor.
 
Sharron Angle: Sharron Angle, a former Nevada State Assemblywoman, is now running for U.S. Senate in Nevada.
 
The PAC also announced that is sending Sharron Angle the maximum $5,000 contribution toward her Senate campaign.
 
“Instead of focusing on turning our economy around and fostering job creation and economic growth, too many of our leaders are instead focused on growing the size of government. That is why Nevada is fortunate to have leaders like Brian Sandoval and Sharron Angle, who will work to get our economy back on track,” said Romney.
 
These endorsements are another in a series of state rollouts of the PAC’s 2010 endorsements, which are aimed at electing conservative candidates who will work to lower taxes and spending, restore commonsense principles to healthcare and get our economy moving again. As part of this program, Romney’s PAC also has announced endorsements in Ohio, Missouri, California, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Nevada, Illinois, Georgia, Texas, Indiana, Idaho, New Mexico, and Virginia.
 
This is the second wave of Nevada endorsements announced this year by the PAC. The PAC has previously endorsed the following Nevada candidates:

Lieutenant Governor Brian Krolicki, who won last night’s primary election, and is running for reelection;
Congressman Dean Heller, who won last night’s primary election, and is running for reelection in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District; and
Dr. Joe Heck, who won last night’s primary election, and is running to represent Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.

Mitt Romney Congratulates Meg Whitman For Primary Victory And Announces Second Wave Of California Endorsements

Today, Governor Mitt Romney issued the following statement on Meg Whitman’s primary election victory last night:

“Meg Whitman's decisive primary victory is good news for California voters who are looking for a strong leader with turnaround skills who knows how to balance a budget and create jobs. Meg is an outsider, with no ties to the political status quo, and she is far and away the best candidate in this race to get California moving in the right direction again."

Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong PAC also announced a second wave of California endorsements, about which Governor Romney said:

“Carly Fiorina is a dynamic leader with proven skills who is committed to getting our economy back on track with pro-growth policies that will create jobs. She joins a number of Republican candidates from California that we can count on to say no to reckless spending in Washington and yes to restoring fiscal sanity.”

The second wave of California endorsements includes:

Carly Fiorina:  Carly Fiorina, the former Chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company, is now running for U.S. Senate in California.

Congressman Kevin McCarthy:  Kevin McCarthy currently represents the 22nd Congressional District of California and is running for reelection.

Congressman Dana Rohrabacher:  Dana Rohrabacher currently represents the 46th Congressional District of California and is running for reelection.

State Senator Jeff Denham:  Jeff Denham currently serves as a California State Senator and is now running to represent the 19th Congressional District of California. 

State Assemblyman Van Tran:  Van Tran currently serves as a State Assemblyman in California and is now running to represent the 47th Congressional District of California. 

State Senator Tony Strickland:  Tony Strickland currently serves as a California State Senator and is now running for State Controller. 

The PAC also announced that it is sending a total of $15,000 in contributions to the campaigns of the abovementioned federal candidates:  $5,000 to Carly Fiorina’s Senate campaign and $2,500 each to the Congressional campaigns of Congressman McCarthy Congressman Rohrabacher, State Senator Jeff Denham, and State Assemblyman Van Tran.

Today, Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC announced the endorsement of the following Virginia candidates.

Congressman Eric Cantor:  Eric Cantor currently represents Virginia’s 7th Congressional District and also serves as the Republican Whip in Congress.  He is running for reelection. 

Keith Fimian:  Keith Fimian is a successful businessman who is now running to represent Virginia’s 11th Congressional District.

Delegate Morgan Griffith:  Morgan Griffith currently serves as a Virginia State Delegate and is now running to represent the 9th Congressional District of Virginia.

State Senator Robert Hurt:  Robert Hurt currently serves in the Virginia State Senate and is now running to represent Virginia’s 5th Congressional District.

Scott Rigell:  Scott Rigell, a community leader and business owner, is now running to represent Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District.

Delegate Barbara Comstock:  Barbara Comstock is a Virginia State Delegate and is running for reelection.

The PAC also announced that is sending Fimian, Hurt, and Rigell each a $2,500 contribution, and that it has already sent a $5,000 contribution to Cantor, a $2,500 contribution to Griffith and a $1,000 contribution to Comstock.

Today, Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC announced its first wave of New Mexico endorsements by backing the following three candidates and sending them a total of $10,000 in contributions:

Susana Martinez:  Susana Martinez currently serves as a District Attorney in New Mexico and is now the Republican nominee for Governor.  She is the first Hispanic woman nominated for Governor by either of the major parties in the United States.

Jon Barela:  Jon Barela, a longtime public servant and community leader, is now running to represent New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District.

Steve Pearce:  Steve Pearce previously represented the 2nd Congressional District of New Mexico, and is running to reclaim his seat.

The PAC also announced that it is sending Susana Martinez a $5,000 contribution, and Jon Barela and Steve Pearce each a $2,500 contribution.

Today, Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC announced the endorsement of seven additional Pennsylvania candidates and announced it is sending a total of $15,000 in contributions: 

Attorney General Tom Corbett:  Tom Corbett currently serves as the Attorney General of Pennsylvania and is now running for Governor.

Congressman Charlie Dent:  Charlie Dent currently represents the 15th Congressional District of Pennsylvania and is running for reelection.

Congressman Jim Gerlach:  Jim Gerlach currently represents the 6th Congressional District of Pennsylvania and is running for reelection.

Congressman Joe Pitts:  Joe Pitts currently represents the 16th Congressional District of Pennsylvania and is running for reelection.

Congressman Bill Shuster:  Bill Shuster currently represents the 9th Congressional District of Pennsylvania and is running for reelection.

Lou Barletta:  Lou Barletta currently serves as a Pennsylvania mayor and is now running to represent the 11th Congressional District of Pennsylvania.

The PAC also announced that it is sending each of the federal candidates a $2,500 general election contribution toward their respective Congressional campaigns.
