Mitt Romney Congratulates Meg Whitman For Primary Victory And Announces Second Wave Of California Endorsements
Today, Governor Mitt Romney issued the following statement on Meg Whitman’s primary election victory last night:
“Meg Whitman's decisive primary victory is good news for California voters who are looking for a strong leader with turnaround skills who knows how to balance a budget and create jobs. Meg is an outsider, with no ties to the political status quo, and she is far and away the best candidate in this race to get California moving in the right direction again."
Mitt Romney’s Free and Strong PAC also announced a second wave of California endorsements, about which Governor Romney said:
“Carly Fiorina is a dynamic leader with proven skills who is committed to getting our economy back on track with pro-growth policies that will create jobs. She joins a number of Republican candidates from California that we can count on to say no to reckless spending in Washington and yes to restoring fiscal sanity.”
The second wave of California endorsements includes:
Carly Fiorina: Carly Fiorina, the former Chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard Company, is now running for U.S. Senate in California.
Congressman Kevin McCarthy: Kevin McCarthy currently represents the 22nd Congressional District of California and is running for reelection.
Congressman Dana Rohrabacher: Dana Rohrabacher currently represents the 46th Congressional District of California and is running for reelection.
State Senator Jeff Denham: Jeff Denham currently serves as a California State Senator and is now running to represent the 19th Congressional District of California.
State Assemblyman Van Tran: Van Tran currently serves as a State Assemblyman in California and is now running to represent the 47th Congressional District of California.
State Senator Tony Strickland: Tony Strickland currently serves as a California State Senator and is now running for State Controller.
The PAC also announced that it is sending a total of $15,000 in contributions to the campaigns of the abovementioned federal candidates: $5,000 to Carly Fiorina’s Senate campaign and $2,500 each to the Congressional campaigns of Congressman McCarthy Congressman Rohrabacher, State Senator Jeff Denham, and State Assemblyman Van Tran.
Today’s endorsements are another in a series of state rollouts of the PAC’s 2010 endorsements, which are aimed at electing conservative candidates who will work to lower taxes and spending, restore commonsense principles to healthcare and get our economy moving again. As part of this program, Romney’s PAC has announced endorsements in Ohio, Missouri, California, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Nevada, Illinois, Georgia, Texas, Indiana, Idaho, New Mexico, and Virginia.
These are the second wave of California endorsements announced this year by the PAC. The PAC has previously endorsed the following California candidates:
Meg Whitman, who won last night’s primary election, and is running for Governor;
Congressman Brian Bilbray, who is running for reelection in California’s 50th Congressional District;
Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack, who won last night’s primary election, and is running for reelection in California’s 45th Congressional District;
Congressman Dan Lungren, who is running for reelection in California’s 3rd Congressional District; and
David Harmer, an attorney and businessman who won last night’s primary election, and is running to represent California’s 11th Congressional District.
