The primary purpose of the Presidential Lecture Series is to provide national figures with a pre-planned, full day in Iowa to introduce them to Iowans and to give citizens an educational opportunity to become better informed on the pro-family vision of each speaker.  The lectures will be videotaped, emailed to our comprehensive database, and posted on our website to allow all interested citizens the opportunity to hear and watch the lectures.  The lectures of Governor Pawlenty, Congressman Paul, and Congresswoman Bachmann are posted on our website at www.TheFamilyLeader.com .

The FAMiLY LEADER will host the Presidential Lecture Series each month through August 1st.  Former Governor Tim Pawlenty was the featured speaker on February 7th and Congressman Ron Paul provided the lecture in Pella and Iowa City on March 7th.  Congressman Ron Paul also gave his lecture at Dordt College on April 11th along with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann at Pella and Iowa City.  Herman Cain is scheduled for June 6th and former Speaker Newt Gingrich on July 11th.  Other invited speakers include former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, South Dakota Senator John Thune, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, Indiana Representative Mike Pence, Donald Trump, and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.

Verona, PA - Former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) announced today that Cody Brown, former campaign manager for Ben Lange's congressional run (IA-1) will manage Senator Santorum's testing the waters effort in Iowa.  Cody will be joined by Lucas Draisey, former Chairman of the Iowa Federation of College Republicans, who will serve in a field director role. 

"I am thrilled to announce that Cody and Lucas are joining our team.  They've demonstrated a unique understanding of what it takes to have an effective grassroots effort, particularly in a state like Iowa where folks want to see and hear directly from potential candidates," said Senator Santorum.  "Cody and Lucas will be a great compliment to our Iowa-based advisors Nick Ryan and Jill Latham, and I look forward to working closely with them in the weeks and months ahead."

Cody Brown served as campaign manager for Ben Lange, candidate for Congress in Iowa's first Congressional district in 2010.  Cody was instrumental in leading a first-time candidate to within 4,200 votes of defeating Rep. Bruce Braley, a two-term incumbent and Vice Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  Cody also helped Lange win a competitive four-way primary by 30 points, the largest margin of victory in Iowa's first district in recent history.  Most recently, Cody has worked on the Project on National Security Reform in Arlington, VA where he authored a book on the National Security Council system and partnered with the National Counterterrorism Center to produce a report on U.S. strategic operational planning for global counterterrorism.

Lucas Draisey, former chairman of the Iowa Federation of College Republicans, works closely with State Senator Sandra Greiner in District 45.  Lucas interned for Greiner during her run for the State Senate and has most recently served as a clerk for Senator Greiner, where he researched proposed legislation and assisted with constituent outreach.

Cody and Lucas will join consultants Nick Ryan and Jill Latham of the Des Moines, IA-based Concordia Group LLC who have served as advisors to Senator Santorum for the past several months. 

Nick Ryan served as a top political advisor for Congressman Jim Nussle (R-Iowa) from 1999-2006, and ran three successful congressional campaigns in Eastern Iowa.  Nick is also the founder of the American Future Fund which was established as a multi-state issue advocacy group designed to effectively communicate conservative and free market ideals.

Jill Latham previously served as Iowa Political Director for Governor Mitt Romney's presidential campaign in 2008.  Jill has vast experience in government and politics, having worked on Capitol Hill and around the country, including President Bush's re-election campaign in 2004. She also served as the Political Director of the Republican Party of Wisconsin from 2005 - 2006.

“America and the World: Resetting Our Course”

Washington, D.C. – Former Senator Rick Santorum, senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Center, will deliver a foreign policy speech entitled “America and the World: Resetting Our Course,” on Thursday, April 28 at 1:30 PM ET at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. 

Senator Santorum will give an overview of our country’s foreign policy since he left the Senate in 2007.  He will share his concerns that the Obama administration has let our many allies down over the last several years making them and America less safe.  He will also suggest potential solutions to address our foreign policy challenges.

Senator Santorum directs the Program to Promote and Protect America’s Freedom at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, which works to identify, study, and heighten awareness of the threats to America and the West from a growing array of anti-Western forces including radical Islamic or otherwise anti-American sentiment.  Senator Santorum established the program in January, 2007.

Verona, PA - Former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) announced today the hiring of Amanda Kornegay as Finance Director for his presidential testing the waters committee.  In this role, Kornegay will lead all political fundraising activities for Senator Santorum.

Amanda Kornegay currently serves as Partner of The Macsata-Kornegay Group, Inc. (TMKG) - a national political and fundraising consulting firm specializing in grassroots campaigns, media messaging and fundraising.  Over the course of her career, Kornegay has raised tens of millions of dollars in political contributions and coordinated hundreds of fundraisers nationwide.  

During the 2010 election cycle, Kornegay served as the Finance Director for U.S. Senate Candidate Sharron Angle of Nevada.  As Finance Director she coordinated the campaign's full-service fundraising operation to raise the Friends of Sharron Angle campaign committee over $27.7 Million.    Previously, Kornegay served as the Finance Director for Senator Richard Burr's 2004 U.S. Senate campaign, raising over $13 million dollars.

Kornegay has also represented various elected officials, including Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), as well as former Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC), Sen. Washington, DC - During an appearance on the Fox News Channel tonight, former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) announced he is taking the next step in a possible run for president in 2012: the formation of a presidential testing-the-waters effort. 

"In 2008 Americans wanted a president who they could believe in, but after two years they realized that what they needed is a president who believes in them," said Senator Santorum.  "It's time for America to be America again -- an America that rewards innovation and hard work, that stands by our allies instead of our enemies, that protects even the most vulnerable of our society, and an America that says every life is to be cherished.  That is what I believe in, and that's why I'm taking this next step in a possible run for president."

Senator Santorum has visited Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina nearly 40 times, and he heads back to New Hampshire tomorrow.  He has hired staff in both Iowa and New Hampshire and won the presidential straw poll in Greenville County, SC last weekend with 31% of the vote.

This testing-the-waters account, which is named the Rick Santorum Exploratory Committee, has been established to allow Senator Santorum to raise funds for the purpose of determining if he will formally become a candidate.
