
Ron Paul Endorsed by State Rep. Glen Massie
Unveils District Chairmen & Coordinators
ANKENY, IA – On Monday, Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul announced his first endorsement from a member of the Iowa legislature. State Representative Glen Massie formally endorsed Ron Paul as his choice for the Republican nominee for President. The endorsement came at a press conference held at Ron Paul's Iowa Presidential headquarters in Ankeny.
"It is distinct privilege and honor to endorse Ron Paul for President of the United States," said Massie. "I have admired Ron Paul for a number of years for being a principled statesman who has faithfully kept his word to uphold the Constitution of this great country."
In addition to the endorsement by Glen Massie, Ron Paul unveiled eight Congressional District Co-Chairmen and announced his campaign in Iowa has more than 100 county co-chairmen. The list of Congressional District Co-Chairmen are:
First District: William Johnson & Dr. Michael Allen
Second District: Marcus Fedler & Roger Barr
Third District: Matt Devries & John Kabitzke
Fourth District: James Mills & Tom German
"With eight District Co-Chairs and over 100 county co-chairs already established, Ron Paul has shown he has the organization ready to make an impact in Iowa," said Campaign Chairman Drew Ivers. "Ron Paul will be tremendously competitive here and his campaign has no plans to slow down."
1st Dist Co-Chairman William A. Johnson of Dubuque, Iowa has served in U.S. Naval Intelligence in the Middle Eastern Theatre as pertains to Israel. Mr. Johnson is fluent in both Hebrew and Mandarin and has lived, studied, and worked in China. He is an avid Tea Party supporter and was the only U.S. Congressional Candidate in Iowa to have been formally endorsed by them. In addition to studies at the Naval institute in Monterey California, Mr. Johnson has studied at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, and Loras Catholic College in Dubuque, Iowa. He has been a Republican State Delegate and a Campaign Manager for a 2010 Republican U.S. Congressional race in Wisconsin.
1st District Co-Chairman Dr. Michael Allen received his B.S. in Molecular Biology at the University of Alabama and his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. After a 3-year foot and ankle surgical residency at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Dr. Allen spent 2 years in private practice before transitioning to teaching. He currently is a Professor at Kaplan University in Cedar Falls and is pursuing an MBA in Finance through Kaplan University. He is a husband and father of a 4 year old girl and 3 year old boy and a passionate historian and student of Austrian economics. He was particularly motivated by Ron Paul's 2008 presidential campaign.
2nd District Co-Chairman Marcus Fedler was born and raised on a family century farm in southeast Iowa. He is a Graduate of Construction Engineering from Iowa State University, husband to Heather, and father to Garrett and Grayson. He is an active member of Faith Baptist Churc h in Washington, Iowa and is guided by biblical principles. He is the President and owner of a successful printing business in Washington Iowa which has grown by double digits every year for the past 8 years. Marcus served the GOP on the District Convention platform committee in ’08 and ’10, ran for County Supervisor in 2007, and in 2010 ran for Republican State Central Committee. He also helped with two Republican State Legislator races in 2010.
2nd District Co-Chairman Roger Barr has served multiple terms on the Jasper County Republican Central Committee and been elected to a number of District and State Conventions where he has served on rules committees. He was elected as a GOP National Convention Alt-Delegate in 2008 and ran for the State Central Committee in 2010. Roger is a fundraiser for various charity groups like MS and has been active in tax relief and gun rights groups along with other conservative and constitutional groups like the Iowa Republican Liberty Caucus, which he chaired. Mr. Barr is a professional IT manager with 25 years experience and is currently employed by OPN Architects of Cedar Rapids and Des Moines IA.
3rd District Co-Chairman Matt DeVries, a life-long Iowan, grown up on a farm in northwest Iowa. He attended Iowa State University and earned his degree with honors in Electrical Engineering. Matt has been active in the Republican Party over the past four years, having been a delegate at the County, District and State Conventions as well as serving on the 3rd District Rules Committee and being a member of the Polk County Central Committee. In addition, he has promoted the cause of liberty as a Regional Coordinator for Campaign for Liberty. Matt has been married to his wife Mandie, for 10 years. Together they have 5 children which they home school.
3rd District Co-Chairman John Kabitzke earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University, graduated from the Air War College, and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional. He has been employed as a Civil Engineer and Telecommunications Manager since 1991 with the Iowa Air National Guard, and has completed 29 years of Military Service in the Air National Guard. John is an active member of the Warren County Republican Central Committee and has been elected numerous times to County, District and State GOP Conventions. John also ran for Republican National Convention Delegate in 2008.
4th District Co-Chairman James Mills resides in Nora Springs, IA. James received a Math Degree from the University of Northern Iowa and taught two years in a public high school before entering private education as the Director of the Sylvan Learning Center in Mason City. He and his wife, Marie, home school their four children. James is a volunteer team leader with the North Iowa Youth Task Force,and is a lay leader at Praise Community Church in Mason City. James is active in the Floyd County Republican Party and was the Republican candidate for the State Senate District 7 in 2010.
4th District Co-Chairman Tom German is a graduate of Iowa State University. He and his family farm in Northwest Iowa and market their farm's products directly to consumers. Tom is a food choice advocate and helped organize grass roots efforts for the passage of raw milk legislation in Iowa. He has served on various boards in his church and also on an issue-advocacy-group national board. Tom has served on the Ida County Republican Central Committee and as a County, District and State Delegate. He also served as Ida County Chair of the 2008 Ron Paul Campaign and was active in the Iowa Campaign for Liberty.
