For the first time in 38 years, Republicans won control of both houses of the Minnesota legislature, a profound change for my state and a great victory for conservatives. The historic nature of this victory cannot be overstated: For the first time since legislative races were partisan, Republicans will now have majorities in both the state House and Senate. This is a great validation of our work over the last eight years to cut spending and keep a lid on taxes.

RGA Announces Remember November Tour

The Republican Governors Association announced today that five governors who have proved the value of effective Republican leadership will embark on a nationwide campaign tour beginning Tuesday, October 26th and ending Saturday, October 30th.

An overview of the campaign swing can be found at the bottom of this release.

“This campaign season has become a battle between rhetoric and reality,” said RGA Communications Director Mike Schrimpf. “To distract from their failed economic record and ideas, Democrats nationally are repeating the same old, unfounded charges about Republican candidates that they used last year against Governors Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell.”
 
“Republican governors are where the Democrats’ harsh rhetoric meets reality,” Schrimpf continued. “Governors like Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell have successfully focused on the pocketbook issues that voters care about and provide a clear contrast with the Democrats’ record.”

“Both Christie and McDonnell have balanced their budgets and held the line on taxes even though their Democratic predecessors left behind record deficits that they said could only be closed with tax hikes,” Schrimpf concluded.

Pawlenty Endorsed Florida Congressional Candidates

ST. PAUL, Minnesota – Today, Governor Tim Pawlenty’s Freedom First PAC endorsed eight Florida congressional candidates, continuing his support for conservatives who are committed to limited government and fiscal responsibility. Governor Pawlenty endorsed the Federal candidates while campaigning in Florida for Rick Scott, the Republican nominee for governor.

“Federal spending is out of control and the only way to stop it is by electing common-sense candidates.” Pawlenty said. “This fall, Florida voters will send a message that we’ve had enough. Each of these candidates will work to restore fiscal discipline and the pro-growth policies that America needs. – I’m proud to endorse them.”

The Freedom First PAC will make $1,000 contributions to each of the campaigns. The newly endorsed candidates are:
