BURLINGTON, Vt. – Stirring images of everyday Americans and swelling crowds of grassroots supporters for Bernie Sanders are featured in a new message that will begin airing Friday in Iowa and New Hampshire.

“They’ve all come to look for America,” sing Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel in their classic folk rock anthem as faces flash on the screen of people backing Bernie’s insurgent campaign for president.

In Iowa alone, Sanders has spoken to more than 40,000 people at rallies and town halls since his campaign began last spring.

“This campaign is not about me,” he often says. “It is not about Hillary Clinton or any other candidate. This campaign is about you, your kids and your parents. It is about creating a political movement of millions of people who stand up and loudly proclaim that this nation belongs to all of us and not just a handful of billionaires.”

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Bolstered by a new television ad highlighting his opposition to the Bakken crude oil pipeline in Iowa, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign announced their Environmental Leadership Team for the Hawkeye state. The twenty-five member group is spearheaded by former League of Conservation Voters staffers and current members of the Bernie 2016 Iowa campaign team: Shelby Iseler, Adam Kofoed, Justin Huck, Evan Friesen, and Michael Plantenberg.

The team, comprised of activists, scientists and community members, applauded Sanders’ strong vocal opposition to the Keystone XL and Bakken crude oil pipelines and his consistent record of working to counter the devastating effects of climate change.

Sanders first voiced his opposition to the Bakken crude oil pipeline, which would transport up to 570,000 barrels of crude oil daily through 18 Iowa counties, in November. Sanders noted at the time that he was “...opposed to the construction of the Bakken crude oil pipeline because as a nation, our job is to break our addiction to fossil fuels, and not increase our dependence on oil, coal and other carbon pollution sources.” Sanders was the first and remains the only Democratic presidential candidate to oppose the construction of this pipeline.

BURLINGTON – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ foreign policy judgement and commitment to defeating the Islamic State terrorist organization without repeating the mistakes of the Iraq War are the focus of a new 30-second television spot which began airing Wednesday on stations in Iowa and New Hampshire.

“As president, I will defend this nation but I will do it responsibly,” Sanders begins in the ad titled "Defend This Nation."

“I voted against the war in Iraq and that was the right vote,” Sanders continues. “We must never forget the lessons of that experience.”

Then-Rep. Sanders not only voted against the war but helped lead the opposition to the war – one of the worst foreign policy blunders in modern American history. Unfortunately, many of the concerns he raised in 2002 turned out to be true.

Sanders goes on to detail how he would defeat the so-called Islamic State as president. “ISIS must be destroyed but we should not do it alone. We need an international coalition, with Muslim boots on the ground, fighting with our support.

“It's time to end the quagmire of perpetual warfare in the Middle East. As president, I will,” Sanders concludes.

LAS VEGAS – Nevada State Director Joan Kato welcomed the endorsements of three Spanish language publications: Ahora Latino Journal, El Reportero and Tú Revista Latina—the first Spanish language media endorsements in Nevada of the 2016 presidential race.

“I am proud to publicly announce my endorsement for Sen. Bernie Sanders," said Mario De La Rosa, owner of Ahora Latino Journal, a bilingual newspaper circulated in Reno. "There is no other candidate who can help resolve the issues important to the Latino community. He is the best fit to take on the billionaire class, and fight for a better future for everyone in the United States, not just Latinos.”

"I am a small business owner. I am an immigrant. And I am a United States veteran," said Luis De Leon, El Reportero's owner. "The ideas that Sen. Bernie Sanders has expressed resonate with the Latino community in Nevada. The magazine is endorsing Sanders to represent our voice and our desire to see equality in wages, health care and education."

"In the beginning, the majority of our magazine staff did not know who Sen. Bernie Sanders was, but once we learned his platform and compared it to the other candidates, it was very clear who we would stand by to lead our country,” said the owner of Tu Revista Latina. “Even before he campaigned for President, Bernie had the courage to fight for the poor and the middle class. The news of the endorsements comes just a day after Lucy Flores, one of the first Latinas elected to Nevada's State Assembly and a democratic candidate in Nevada's 4th Congressional District, announced her support for Sen. Sanders’ campaign.

BURLINGTON, Vt. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ stand against the proposed Bakken oil pipeline in Iowa is the focus of a new television ad set to begin airing on Wednesday in Iowa. Sanders is the only candidate to oppose the pipeline, which would pump dirty crude oil across Iowa.

In the 30-second ad, two Iowa farmers explain that they support Sanders because “he stands up against the pipeline.”

“Bernie Sanders didn't hesitate to say no to the big oil companies,” George Naylor of Churdan, Iowa, says. “Bernie knows that if we don’t act we threaten the climate and the health of our children,” Patti Edwardson adds. “Bernie Sanders has the guts to just stand up for what he believes in,” Edwardson concludes.

Sanders first voiced his opposition to the pipeline, which would transport up to 570,000 barrels of crude oil daily through 18 Iowa counties, in November. Sanders noted at the time that he was “opposed to the construction of the Bakken crude oil pipeline because as a nation, our job is to break our addiction to fossil fuels, and not increase our dependence on oil, coal and other carbon pollution sources.”
