BURLINGTON, Vt. -- U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday will travel to California. The Democratic Party presidential candidate will host an election night rally in Carson. Sanders will discuss a wide range of issues, including getting big money out of politics, his plan to make public colleges and universities tuition-free, combating climate change and ensuring universal health care.

Sanders will discuss a wide range of issues, including the Puerto Rican debt crisis and its impact on the island's health care and educational systems, as well as his plan for economic recovery.

Bernie Sanders Campaign Announces Southern California People-Powered Steering Committee

LOS ANGELES - U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders' campaign announced on Friday the formation of its Southern California steering committee. Made up of a diverse coalition of elected officials, organizational leaders and grassroots activists, the people-powered group has been mobilizing thousands of voters in the area and has been laying the groundwork for a Sanders victory in the state on June 7.

"Not since the Rainbow Coalition of 1988 have we seen such a diverse and progressive movement for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party," said Los Angeles councilman Gil Cedillo. "Bernie Sanders will win California and we look forward to one of the most exciting Democratic conventions of our lifetimes."

Former Los Angeles city councilman Bob Farrell and current Los Angeles city councilman Gil Cedillo will co-chair the steering committee.

"My support for Bernie Sanders stems from our shared experience of membership with the 'Congress On Racial Equality' during a time when students across the country took a stand against racial and social injustice," said Farrell. "Bernie's stance on the issues reflect where the people are, where they want to be and what kinds of policies should drive the programs and priorities of our nation."

California will elect 475 pledged delegates on June 7, to head to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

(Washington, DC) May 13, 2016 – Today, nine Chairmen in the U.S. House of Representatives – Steve Chabot (Small Business), Michael Conaway (Agriculture), Jeb Hensarling (Financial Services), Candice Miller (House Administration), Jeff Miller (Veterans’ Affairs), Tom Price (Budget), Pete Sessions (Rules), Bill Shuster (Transportation and Infrastructure), and Lamar Smith (Science, Space and Technology) – endorsed Donald J. Trump for President and released the following statement:

“We stand on the precipice of one of the most important elections of our lifetime. This great nation cannot endure eight more years of Democrat-control of the White House. It cannot afford to put Democrats in charge of Congress. It is paramount that we coalesce around the Republican nominee, Mr. Donald J. In response, Mr. Trump released the following statement upon news of the endorsements:

“It is tremendous to be working with these leaders and their colleagues on winning solutions that will really move us forward. A strong House Republican Majority is imperative to fixing the problems facing America and making our country better and stronger than ever before.”

Mr. Trump has surged in recent polls against Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, both nationally and in key battleground states such as Ohio, where he leads Clinton by a significant margin.

On Sunday, May 15, and Monday, May 16, Hillary Clinton will return to Kentucky to campaign ahead of Tuesday's Democratic presidential primary.

On Sunday, she will hold "Get Out the Vote" events in Louisville and Covington, where she will ask Kentuckians for their support and urge them to go out and vote on Election Day. She will also discuss why she is the best candidate to raise incomes for Kentucky families, to lower health care costs and improve education, and to break down the barriers that hold too many Americans back. This events are free and open to the public.

On Monday, she will continue her push to get out the vote in Kentucky by holding public events in Bowling Green and Lexington.
