Inslee to Barnstorm Des Moines Area, Hold Four Campaign Events
Inslee to discuss women’s health care with NARAL, visit wind energy training center, and hold meet-and-greets with Iowa Democrats

Seattle – On Monday, Washington Governor Jay Inslee will travel to Iowa for four events, meeting with voters in the Des Moines area and sharing his vision for America’s clean energy future.
Later in the week, Inslee will travel to Detroit on Tuesday, where he will listen to residents in Michigan’s most polluted zip code discuss the importance of clean water for all and environmental justice. On Wednesday, Inslee will deliver a major policy speech at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City. He will then return to Iowa on Sunday, June 9 in Cedar Rapids, for the Iowa Democrats Hall of Fame Dinner.
On Monday, June 3rd, at 8:30 AM CT, Inslee will hold a roundtable hosted by NARAL in Des Moines. Inslee will hear from Iowa women, medical professionals and policy leaders discussing their personal experiences. Inslee will talk about the recent attacks on women’s reproductive rights nationwide, and the importance of a president who will protect women’s health. Gov. Inslee signed Washington state’s Reproductive Parity Act to protect women’s health coverage for a full range of reproductive services, including abortion.
At 11:00 AM CT, Inslee will then travel to Ankeny to tour Des Moines Area Community College’s Advanced Technology Center. Inslee will explore the center’s Wind Turbine Lab and Tool and Die Lab, while learning more about the school’s clean energy program from students, staff, and members of Power Up Iowa. Inslee will conclude the tour by visiting the campus’ working wind turbine. Inslee’s comprehensive “Evergreen Economy” plan calls for increased investment in community and technical college clean energy programs like the one at Des Moines Area Community College.
Next, at 3:30 PM CT in Urbandale, Inslee will hold a meet and greet with Urbandale Area Democrats. Inslee will answer questions from the group and discuss the urgency of defeating climate change and growing millions of jobs in the clean energy economy.
Later, Inslee will return to Des Moines at 7:00 PM CT to meet with more than 80 members and supporters of the Asian & Latino Coalition. Inslee will share the details of his recently released “America’s Promise” immigration plan and answer questions about his campaign, climate change, and the political empowerment and civic engagement of Asian and Latino communities.
On Tuesday, June 4, Inslee will travel to Michigan for an environmental justice listening session and tour at 11:00 AM ET in Detroit’s 48217 zip code, the most polluted zip code in Michigan. Gov. Inslee will hear about the impact of pollution on Southwest Detroit residents, and he will discuss the Clean Water for All proposal in his Evergreen Economy plan.
On Wednesday, May 5 at 7:45AM, Inslee will give a major speech on climate change and hold a discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
Inslee will return to Iowa the following weekend, where he will take part in the Iowa Democrats Hall of Fame Dinner.
Inslee, who is the only presidential candidate who has made defeating climate change and building a clean energy economy the cornerstone of his campaign, has been making stops to speak with voters across the country as part of his “Climate Mission Tour.” He recently announced his “100% Clean Energy for America” and "Evergreen Economy" plans, and since launching his campaign in March, has visited Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Texas, California, New York, Illinois, and Oregon.
