Julián Castro Returns to Iowa for Roundtable on Racial Profiling and Block Party with Urban Dreams
SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 14, 2019) – Following the Tuesday Democratic presidential debate, Julián Castro will return to Iowa for an Urban Dreams neighborhood block party, roundtable on the need for a racial profiling ordinance in Des Moines and for the Leading the Nation forum in Davenport.
Castro, former Obama Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, will join community members for an Urban Dreams block party in Des Moines on Thursday.
On Friday morning, Secretary Castro will participate in a roundtable discussion on the need for a racial profiling ordinance in Des Moines. Secretary Castro was the first 2020 candidate to release a comprehensive police reform plan, calling for accountability and transparency while demanding an end to racial profiling.
Later Friday, Secretary Castro will meet in Iowa City with individuals from the Inside Out Community, a re-entry program for those recently incarcerated, and will participate in the Leading the Nation forum in Davenport hosted by St. Ambrose University and the Quad City Times as part of their series with 2020 candidates.
