REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE MARK SANFORD BEGINS 11-STATE, ONE WEEK, 3,500-MILE ROAD TRIP ON WED. OCT. 16, 2019 THEMED “KIDS, WE’RE BANKRUPT AND WE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW IT”
CHARLESTON, SC (OCT. 15, 2019): Republican Presidential candidate and former South Carolina Governor and U.S. Representative Mark Sanford sets off on a week-long, cross-country “Kids, We’re Bankrupt and We Didn’t Even Know It” road trip beginning Wednesday, October 16, 2019. The road trip begins in Philadelphia and ends in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 23.
“My intention and purpose is to begin a national dialogue with voters about our nation’s disastrous financial state. I continue to be perplexed and amazed by the ways in which President Trump and my would-be democrat presidential opponents have stayed silent on this critical issue,” commented Governor Sanford.
In addition to highlighting debt, deficit and spending, Sanford will highlight two other core campaign issues - the importance of the Founders’ design of an institutional framework for government and civil tone in holding our political system together and getting things done.
The “Kids, We’re Bankrupt and We Didn’t Even Know It” road trip kicks off in Philadelphia at Independence Hall National Historical Park and Liberty Bell Center with a brief discussion of the institutions, political norms and institutional framework our Founding Fathers gave us and the ways in which this president has, at times, trampled on this American birthright.
Sanford will end his trip down the road from the Reagan Library in Simi Valley (CA) talking about President Reagan’s adherence to civility and civil tone; another core issue of Sanford's campaign for The White House. “Civility and tone matter in all human interactions and to pretend that this president isn’t hurting our country and the Republican Party is a mistake,” commented Governor Sanford.
Sanford extends an invitation to the media to “come along with us if you’d like to get car sick.” Riders are welcome on legs of the road trip. This once in a lifetime opportunity will be served up, first come, first serve...or until someone gets car queasy! Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in joining us.
