WHAT THEY ARE SAYING: Joe Biden at the Democratic Debate in Charleston, SC
“Best debate so far” … “Strong and assertive” … “Very presidential” … “Fit and focused” … “Showing up” … “Incredibly strong performance” … “Clear and confident” … “Found his fire” … “Great night” … “Outstanding debate on style and substance”
Tonight, Joe Biden proved what South Carolinians have always known: Biden is the best positioned candidate to make Donald Trump a one term president and prepared to be President of the United States on day one. Biden’s strong and forceful debate performance demonstrated his unmatched experience leading on the world stage, defeating the NRA, addressing pressing issues like affordable housing, and confronting outbreaks and pandemics like coronavirus. He highlighted his vision to build on the progress of the Obama-Biden administration to provide opportunity for communities of color to start businesses and build wealth and expand on Obamacare with a public option. And, pundits, reporters, and elected leaders agree: Joe Biden won the debate.
Former Democratic Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang
"It was a great night for Joe Biden. He has been stronger since he got to South Carolina."
Washington Post Columnist Eugene Robinson
“Biden probably had his best debate. He was not just forceful, but he was substantive. He is strong in every debate on foreign policy."
MSNBC Hardball Host Chris Matthews
“I thought that Biden had his best night — maybe it’s because he feels good about his chances down here. He been talking them up for months that he's going to win South Carolina. I think he acted like it. He seemed to have a lot of homework, a lot of things, doodads he threw in tonight.”
