YANG CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES IN-HOUSE DIGITAL TEAM, HIRES NEW DIGITAL DIRECTOR
NEW YORK — Andrew Yang's presidential campaign is leaning into one of its major strengths — garnering online support — and launching an internal digital team.
Eric Ming, a recognized leader in the field of digital strategy, will spearhead the in-house team as Digital Director.
Ming worked on the Wisconsin recall elections and with labor partners, nonprofits, and statewide and national campaigns. He's raised millions of dollars online for candidates nationwide and trained hundreds of progressive leaders in the latest cutting-edge digital tactics.
The digital team, which Ming hopes to grow to 20 staff members come mid-September, will have its own creatives and will work collaboratively with other campaign staff and teams.
"With over 200,000 unique donors and over $3.5 million raised this quarter, the Yang campaign is set to peak just as we reach the important fall debates. I can't wait to get started building a team that supports this innovative and forward-thinking candidate," Ming said.
Another benefit to building an internal digital team is the campaign's ability to most effectively control its message and voice.
"Andrew has made a name for himself online, and it's where his campaign started. We believe we know our supporters best, and we aren't interested in running the same ads as everyone else. Digital is no longer an arm of our campaign, it's the driving force," said Yang's Communications Director Madalin Sammons.
