Tom Steyer Qualifies for November Debate

(SAN FRANCISCO, October 6, 2019) — Today, presidential candidate Tom Steyer officially qualified for the Democratic National Committee debate in November. A Fox News poll released this morning shows Steyer at 4% in South Carolina, making it his 4th qualifying poll. Steyer is one of only 7 candidates to qualify thus far for the November debate.

“Tom’s support is accelerating faster than any other candidate in the field in the early states where voters have had a chance to hear his message, Tom is surging because he’s not part of the establishment and his message of ending the corporate takeover of our government is resonating,” Campaign Manager Heather Hargreaves said. “Tom is excited to continue getting out there and meeting with voters all across the country, hearing their stories, and connecting with them personally, and we are thrilled to see him on stage sharing his vision with the full country at the DNC debate in Ohio on October 15th and in November.”

Steyer announced his campaign on July 9, and had already surpassed the necessary 165,000 donor threshold by the time the DNC had announced the minimum number needed. The Morning Consult poll has consistently shown Tom at 6% among early state voters.

Kamala Harris Campaign to Open Burlington Field Office and Host Debate Watch Party

On Tuesday, October 15, the night of the fourth Democratic debate, Senator Kamala Harris’ campaign will celebrate the opening of its office in Burlington by welcoming local volunteers, supporters, and members of the community for an open house and debate watch party. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet their local organizers, other Harris supporters, and cheer Harris on during the debate.

The office is one of 10 additional offices the campaign is opening across Iowa. The campaign has also announced that it will be growing its operation by adding 60 new organizers, and that Harris will be campaigning in Iowa every week in October.

The office will be a hub for campaign activity in the Burlington area, and is a space where volunteers can make phone calls, learn more about Harris, join canvass launches and meet other Harris supporters. The presence of local offices is just one more way the Harris campaign continues to meet people where they are and organize in every county and precinct across Iowa.

LAS VEGAS – Statement from Sen. Bernie Sanders upon discharge from the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center:

“I want to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center for the excellent care that they provided. After two and a half days in the hospital, I feel great, and after taking a short time off, I look forward to getting back to work.”

“After presenting to an outside facility with chest pain, Sen. Sanders was diagnosed with a myocardial infarction. He was immediately transferred to Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center.

“The Senator was stable upon arrival and taken immediately to the cardiac catheterization laboratory, at which time two stents were placed in a blocked coronary artery in a timely fashion. All other arteries were normal.

“His hospital course was uneventful with good expected progress. He was discharged with instructions to follow up with his personal physician.”
