State Senator Rob Hogg of Cedar Rapids is hosting special guest, entrepreneur and philanthropist Andrew Yang, for one in a series of climate conversations with Presidential candidates on Sunday, June 9, starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Lynch Room in Gage Memorial Union at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Please feel free to invite others who might be interested. There is no cost to attend.

This is an opportunity to listen to Mr. Yang's ideas for bringing Americans together to take the climate action we so urgently need. Citizens will have the opportunity to ask questions and talk individually with Mr. Yang about climate change and related issues for health, jobs, the environment, and sustainability. The program will be moderated by Senator Hogg.

This event is being sponsored by the Coe College E-Club and the Environmental Studies Program. In accordance with federal law, Coe College does not support or oppose candidates for political office. Concord, N.H. - Today, the New Hampshire Democratic Party announced the winners of the ten county and two city committee caucuses, who will play a leadership role in their communities helping Democrats win up and down the ticket in 2020.

County Democratic Committees, as well as the Manchester and Nashua City Committees, caucus every two years - in off years - to elect their Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Delegate(s) at Large. Any registered Democrat can run for and vote for any elected officer position.

The caucuses, which were held over the past two months, attracted more than 650 attendees. Last night, New Hampshire Democrats concluded this year’s caucuses with Merrimack County’s caucus.

“Democrats have come together to elect officers who will lead the effort in communities across the state to share the Democratic Party’s vision for creating good paying jobs, protecting women’s rights, making college affordable, and rebuilding the middle class,” said Ray Buckley, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. “It’s clear that with these local leaders - many of whom are rising Democratic stars - we have the team we need to succeed in 2020 and beyond.”

Notably, the elected officers and delegates are majority women, and many are young Democrats who have potential to be the Party’s next rising stars.

Seattle – This week, Washington Governor Jay Inslee will travel to Chicago and Las Vegas, holding events in support of a $15 minimum wage and action on climate change. Inslee’s recently released Evergreen Economy Plan proposed 28 detailed initiatives to support workers and a clean energy economy, including a national $15 per hour minimum wage by 2024.

On Thursday, May 23rd, at 10:45 AM CT, Inslee will travel to Chicago, Illinois, to march with McDonald’s workers striking for higher wages at McDonald’s headquarters. At 11:00 AM CT, Inslee will give remarks in front of the corporate offices in support of local workers striking and the Fight for Fifteen and will share his plan to strengthen workers’ rights, revive unions, and raise the minimum wage. Inslee will be joined by local McDonald’s workers and labor leaders.

Next, Inslee will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday, May 24th to join the Sunrise Movement for the second Global Youth Climate Strike. At 11:30 AM PT, Inslee, alongside students striking for climate action, will speak outside the Federal Courthouse about the Trump administration’s dangerous environmental policies and his plans to defeat climate change. Inslee previously spoke at the first Global Youth Climate Strike in March.

Later, at 3 PM PT, Inslee will participate in a roundtable meeting with SEIU workers and leaders to discuss their Fight for Fifteen initiative. Inslee will listen to workers’ experiences, share details of his Evergreen Economy Plan, and discuss his leadership and successful efforts fighting for a higher minimum wage in Washington, which is tied for the highest state minimum wage in America.

Inslee, who is the only presidential candidate who has made defeating climate change and building a clean energy economy the cornerstone of his campaign, has been making stops to speak with voters across the country as part of his “Climate Mission Tour.” He recently announced his “100% Clean Energy for America” and "Evergreen Economy" plans, and since launching his campaign in March, has visited Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada, Texas, California, New York, and Oregon.
