MINNESOTA – Senator Bernie Sanders today endorsed Keith Ellison for Minnesota Attorney General, citing Ellison’s strong record of Congressional leadership on worker and consumer rights and as a civil rights lawyer. In endorsing Ellison for Attorney General, Sen. Sanders also announced that he will host two rallies to continue building grassroots enthusiasm for Ellison’s campaign – in Duluth and Minneapolis, next Friday, July 13, 2018.

“I enthusiastically endorse my friend Keith Ellison for Minnesota Attorney General,” said Senator Sanders. “Not only has Keith been a fierce ally of working people in Congress – fighting for the $15 minimum wage, for Medicare for All, to protect consumers, and against wage theft – he was also a former civil rights lawyer representing low-income clients. With Keith as their Attorney General, Minnesotans would have a fighter for working people, the discriminated against, and the economically oppressed.”

Sen. Sanders and Rep. Ellison will rally with supporters in Minneapolis at First Avenue at 11:00am on Friday, July 13 (doors at 9:30am, music at 10:15am). Sanders and Ellison will then travel to Duluth to rally with supporters at Denfeld High School at 5:00pm (doors at 3:45pm, music at 4:15pm).

Delaney (MD-6), the first declared Democratic candidate for President, will air a new ad Thursday that shares his grandfather’s immigration story and calls for a spirit of “shared humanity.” The spot, titled “A Shared Humanity” will air during MSNBC’s Morning Joe in the D.C. market on Thursday and will run in the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids markets in Iowa starting next week. The several hundred-thousand dollar buy for this ad is the first of a multi-ad, summer-long Iowa television buy. This will be Delaney’s sixth television ad to air in Iowa since February.

Democratic National Committee will hold the Democratic National Convention from July 13 to July 16, 2020

DNC Announces 2020 Convention Dates

DNC Chair Tom Perez announced today that the Democratic National Committee will hold the Democratic National Convention from July 13 to July 16, 2020.

The DNC will hold its convention ahead of the Summer Olympics, which begin on July 24, 2020, allowing the Democratic nominee maximum exposure heading into the fall.

The dates chosen will put the Party’s nominee in the strongest position possible heading into the general election by allowing the nominee more time to use general elections funds and travel across the country to discuss the issues that matter most to voters. DNC leadership consulted with party leaders, previous campaigns, and rank and file Democrats in making this decision.

“The Democratic Party is committed to organizing everywhere, and holding the convention in mid-July allows us to continue our work doing exactly that,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “My priority is to ensure that the 2020 nominating process is the most open, fair, transparent and inclusive in our party's history. That is exactly why the DNC has started this process early and before we have a full slate of candidates running for president. This will not only allow for a unified party, but will ensure that our nominee is in the strongest position to take on Donald Trump or whoever the Republican nominee may be.”

The DNC will conduct host site surveys over the next few months in order to determine the best location to hold the Democratic National Convention. Further details will be provided at a later date.
