New Harris Campaign Ad Blitz Slams Donald Trump’s “Concepts of a Plan” to Rip Health Care Away from Millions of Americans With Two New Ads

After the release of a devastating new report detailing the impact of a Trump presidency on Americans’ health care, the Harris campaign is launching a new ad blitz focused on the stakes of this election when it comes to health care – an issue that a new Gallup poll just this week found two-thirds of Americans felt needed to be discussed more this campaign cycle.
“Concepts of a Plan” features Trump’s out-of-touch answer during the September presidential debate when asked about his commitment to “terminating” the Affordable Care Act. The ad lays bare his intent to rip away tens of millions of Americans’ health care if he’s elected president, and lifts up Vice President Harris’ commitment to strengthen health care protections for all Americans and lower health care and prescription drug costs – because she believes access to health care should be a right, not just a privilege for a wealthy few.
The ad is the first of a series of health care-focused ads following yesterday’s report spotlighting the view from independent experts and analysts that Trump’s “concepts of a plan” would be devastating for Americans with preexisting conditions, young people, women, and seniors.
“Yamelisa” features Yamelisa Taveras, an Allentown, Pennsylvania resident with diabetes who has at times had to decide between her health and basic necessities because of the sky-high cost of insulin. In the spot, Taveras highlights Vice President Harris’ work to take on drug companies and lower the cost of prescription drugs, including insulin, for all Americans, while Donald Trump’s repeal of the Affordable Care Act could jeopardize her access to health insurance due to a pre-existing condition.
Trump’s threats to health care for Latino voters, women, seniors, young people, Americans with preexisting conditions, and Medicaid recipients are not new. In his first term, Donald Trump proposed budgets every single year in office that slashed Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. He also attempted to gut the Affordable Care Act, which would have allowed insurance companies to deny coverage to more than 100 million Americans with preexisting health conditions. Now, he’s running to go even further.
The “concepts” of Donald Trump’s health care plan for his second term are spelled out in his 900-page Project 2025 agenda.
Rip health insurance away from millions, gut protections for those with preexisting conditions, and raise out-of-pocket costs for millions more as they sabotage – and then terminate – the Affordable Care Act.
Raise the costs of prescription drugs and health insurance.
Cut Medicare and slash Medicaid.
Ban abortion nationwide and rip away reproductive health care services.
“Being president is about who you fight for. Every time Donald Trump opens his mouth and says ‘health care,’ he makes clear that he’s only out there for himself and his wealthy friends – not the tens of millions of seniors, Medicaid recipients, and Americans with preexisting health conditions that know the Affordable Care Act is a lifeline,” said Harris-Walz Communications Director Michael Tyler. “Vice President Harris will spend every day as president fighting for all Americans, lowering costs, and protecting every American’s access to health care – because health care is a right for all Americans, not a privilege.”
This blitz is part of the Harris campaign’s $370 million investment in TV and digital reservations until Election Day. “Concepts of a Plan” will air across the battleground states on broadcast and cable programming, targeting persuadable voters that watch programs like 9-1-1, Brilliant Minds, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Grey’s Anatomy, as well as networks like the Hallmark Channel and TLC during medicine and health-related movies and shows like Dr. Pimple Popper and Untold Stories of the ER. Ahead of tonight’s vice presidential debate, the ad will also air on NBC Nightly News nationally. “Yamelisa” will also air across battlegrounds in markets that reach Latino voters in both Spanish and English.

Linsey Davis: President Trump, you have long vowed to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
Donald Trump: If we come up with something, we’re going to do it, and we’re going to replace it.
Linsey Davis: You still do not have a plan.
Donald Trump: I have concepts of a plan. There are concepts and options we have to do that.
Vice President Harris: You have no plan.
When Donald Trump was president, he tried to get rid of the Affordable Care Act.
And what the Affordable Care Act has done is eliminate the ability of insurance companies to deny people with preexisting conditions.
You remember what that was like?
We, over the last four years, have strengthened the Affordable Care Act, and now we have capped the cost of insulin at $35 a month. We have capped the cost of prescription medication for seniors at $2,000 a year.
And when I am president, we will do that for all people, understanding that access to health care should be a right and not just a privilege of those who can afford it.
I’m Kamala Harris, and I approve this message.

Yamelisa Taveras: My name is Yamelisa Taveras.
I was diagnosed with diabetes at 10 years old, and the cost of insulin is a challenge.
At times, I’ve had to decide between my health or basic necessities.
Kamala, taking on the drug companies to lower the cost of insulin for seniors, showed me that she cares.
As president, she’ll fight to lower the cost of insulin and medicine for everyone.
Vice President Harris: I’m Kamala Harris and I approve this message.
