Following DNC Speech, VP Harris Speaks Directly to Voters About Creating Economic Opportunity and Expanding the Middle Class in New Ad
Last night, in her speech accepting the Democratic nomination for president of the United States, Vice President Harris spoke about how being raised by a working mother in a middle-class neighborhood informed her vision and values. Today, her campaign is launching a new ad, “Opportunity,” where she speaks directly to voters about her belief in building up the middle class and creating opportunities for everyone to climb the economic ladder. In the new spot, Vice President Harris advances the argument for an opportunity economy that she outlined last week in her economic speech in North Carolina and reaffirmed in her convention address last night.
The Vice President is fighting to turn the page on the past and build a future where everyone has a chance to get ahead – whether that be getting a good job, buying a home, or starting a business — and where costs come down.
“Opportunity” is part of an eight-figure ad buy targeting voters in battleground states. Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are dedicated to reaching every voter where they are and earning the support of millions of Americans who will decide this election. “Opportunity” will air across media markets in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
The following is a statement from Harris-Walz Spokesperson Charles Lutvak:
“As the daughter of a working mother who grew up in a middle-class neighborhood, Vice President Harris believes that when the middle class is strong, America is strong. That’s why creating opportunities for middle-class families to buy a home, create a business, and not just get by, but get ahead will be a central goal of her administration – a stark contrast to Donald Trump, who will only help the ultra-rich and corporations while raising costs for middle-class families.”
Vice President Harris: Here’s a few things I believe: Middle-class families, like the one I grew up in, they want common sense solutions.
You want lower prices and lower taxes.
I believe you want to just not get by, but you want to get ahead.
We must create an opportunity economy where everyone has a chance to get a car loan, buy a home, start a business.
But most of all, that instead of being focused on the politics of the past, we need to be thinking about the future.
I’m Kamala Harris and I approve this message.
